Buffs Tie Newman 0-0 Saturday Afternoon

THE BASICS:
 
  • Score: West Texas A&M 0, Newman 0

  • The Lead: The West Texas A&M men's soccer team tied Newman 0-0 Saturday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.  The Buffs ran their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).  Minutes for the players were not correct follwoing the game as stats for it will be available later.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • WT dominated the attack to the tune of a 12-4 lead in shots and a 7-1 lead in shots on goal, but were unable to come up with the breakthrough goal.
  • Junior Reece Schattle had a team-high three shots with two on frame, as did senior Chris Johnson.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Alexander Vencel posted his third shutout of the season and moved to 7-3-1 on the year, while dropping his goals against average to under 1.00.He had one save in the match.
  • Neman goalkeeper Chase Bowman made seven stops for a shutout and a clean sheet for the Jets.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
  • The match was physical as usual in the series as the teams combined for 33 fouls and five yellow cards as Newman had 20 fouls in the match with three yellow cards and the Buffs had 13 fouls with two yellow cards.
  • Last year's match saw 44 fouls between the two teams, nine yellow cards and two red cards.
  • WT moves to 4-0-1 all-time against Newman.
