  • The Lead: In the West Texas A&M men's soccer team's return to The Pitch in almost a month, the Buffs posted a 4-0 win over visiting Lubbock Christian Thursday evening in a light rain shower throughout the match. 
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • The Buffs jumped out to an early lead 16 minutes into the game as junior Reece Schattle flicked a ball over LCU goalkeeper Parker O'Quinn's head for an open-netter and a 1-0 lead.Junior Ivan Ulloa had the assist for the score.It was Schattle's third score of the season.
  • It didn't take long for WT to get on the board again as junior Julio Vargas was on the receiving end of Ulloa's second assist and an assist from senior Evan Bozman at the 28:05 mark for a 2-0 lead.
  • For the half, WT held a 10-3 lead in shots and 5-2 in shots on goal, while Schattle had three shots with two on goal and the first score.
  • Ulloa had two assists in the first half and one shot on goal.
  • WT freshman Alexander Vencel had two saves in the first half for the Buffs.
  • In the 65th minute, senior Chris Johnson passed to junior Troy Reeves who headed it past O'Quinn for a 3-0 lead at the 64:03 mark.
  • Ulloa scored his second goal of the year off an assist from Bozman as both he and Bozman had two assists in the game and a 4-0 WT lead at the 66:36 mark.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
  • WT outshot the Chaps 24-5 and 14-4 in shots on goal, while recording six corner kicks in the game.
  • Schattle had a team-high four shots with two on goal and a score.
  • Ulloa and Bozman each had two assists in the game.
  • The Buffs improved to 5-2 all-time against LCU.
  • Vencel had four saves and his fifth shutout of the season.
 
 
UP NEXT:
 
  • The Buffs travel to Eastern New Mexico for a matchup with the Greyhounds Saturday at 2 p.m. CT, before returning home to host UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico to conclude the regular season.
  • The Oct. 28 match against Eastern New Mexico will be Senior Day for the Buffs at 1 p.m. at The Pitch.
