  • The Lead: West Texas A&M scored two goals within four minutes in the first half en route to a 3-0 win at Dallas Baptist Saturday afternoon as junior Julio Vargas scored two goals in the victory.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • The Buffs got on the board with a goal from Chris Johnson 21:49 into the contest as it as his second score and assist from senior Gabe Williams.
  • Just 3:34 later, Vargas scored his first of two goals with an assist from junior Reece Schattle for a 2-0 lead at the 25:23 mark.
  • The Buffs held a 2-0 lead at halftime and Vargas added his second score and seventh of the season for a 3-0 lead at the 62:49 mark and an assist from senior Evan Bozman.
  • WT outshot DBU 13-4 and 6-1 in shots on goal.Vargas had four shots on frame with two goals in 65 minutes of action.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Alexander Vencel tallied his fourth shutout of the season dropping his goals against average to 0.91, as he had one save in the game.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
  • WT improved to 10-0 all-time against DBU and now has outscored the Patriots 42-5 all-time and has four-straight shutouts in the series.
  • The Buffs now are 4-0 all-time at DBU.
  • The two goals by Vargas is the second time this season he has multiple goals in a game with a hat trick at UT Permian Basin being the other.

  • The Buffs return home after six-straight games on the road (4-1-1) to host Lubbock Christian on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at The Pitch.
