CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs wrap-up the first half of Lone Star Conference play during Homecoming Weekend as they host the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday night at 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup with Texas Woman's with first serve set for 1 p.m. in Canyon.

TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
The Lions are guided by eighth year head coach Craig Case who has led TAMUC to 120 wins, the fourth most in program history. Case is the longest tenured head coach in Lion Volleyball history.
TAMUC enters the weekend with an overall record of 11-7 with a 6-2 mark in Lone Star Conference play to sit in second in the league standings. The Lions have won their last five matches including home wins over Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico last weekend in Commerce.
The Lions are led offensively by Jaryn and Jaslyn Wacker who have registered 180 kills each so far this season. Gabriela Rosa paces the TAMUC offense with 406 assists (6.06/set) while Savannah Rutledge leads the way defensively with 248 digs (3.76/set).
Texas A&M-Commerce has registered 888 kills (13.30/set) on 2,482 attempts with 384 attack errors to hit .203 as a team so far this season. They average 12.60 assists and 1.50 service aces per set while tallying 1,089 digs (16.30/set) and 149.0 total blocks (2.20/set) on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Lions, 40-12 with the two teams splitting their pair of meetings last season as the home team picked up each of the victories. The Lions are 3-21 all-time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box".

WT ended their 2016 regular season on a high note as they registered 13 total blocks to outlast the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce (25-18, 15-25, 25-13, 25-21) in front of over 700 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by
Elisa Bentsen with 13 kills on 23 swings with just two attack errors to hit .478 on the night,
Selena Batiste dished out a match high 28 assists while
Lauren Britten tallied 13 digs.
TEXAS WOMAN'S
The Pioneers are guided by first year head coach Jeff Huebner who came to Denton from Middle Tennessee State where he was most recently the Interim Head Women's Volleyball Coach after being hired as an assistant coach in January 2016.
TWU enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-9 with a 5-3 mark in Lone Star Conference play to sit in a tie for second place following wins over Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico last weekend in Denton.
The Pioneers are led offensively by Briley Cole-Lewis who has registered 161 kills on 416 swings with 83 attack errors to hit .188 on the season. Katy Ranes paces the TWU offense with 671 assists (10.65/set) while Bailey French leads the way defensively with 291 digs (4.62/set).
Texas Woman's has registered 780 kills (12.40/set) on 2,257 attempts with 365 attack errors to hit .184 as a team so far this season. They average 11.70 assists and 1.10 service aces per set while tallying 950 digs (15.10/set) and 116.5 total blocks (1.80/set) on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Pioneers, 43-7 as WT claimed both meetings last season. TWU is 1-23 all-time in Canyon.

WT started fast and never looked back as they swept past the visiting Pioneers of Texas Woman's (25-13, 30-28, 25-12) in Lone Star Conference action on Senior Night at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box".
WT was led offensively by
Taylor Kress with a career high 15 kills on 31 swings to hit .323 on the night.
Selena Batiste paced the WT offense with 36 assists to go along with 11 digs for a double-double.
HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball, in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Regional Titles and three NCAA Division II National Championships. "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 462-73 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.3%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach
Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 381-89 (.811, 12th year) including a 245-69 (.778) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA Postseason with three South Central Regional Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Lady Buffs have played in 64 sets during 19 matches so far during the 2017 season. True freshman
Chandler Vogel has started 18 of those matches at libero while four other freshman have made appearances in the starting lineup so far this season for the Lady Buffs.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering the week, LSC teams were 96-97 overall this season. The squads are 15-17 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 11-6 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region.
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (OCT. 9)
Lewis picked up 22 of the possible 48 first place votes in this week's AVCA Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon by the association's offices.
Lewis sit atop of the poll with 1,138 total points followed by S.W. Minnesota State (14 first place, 1,123), Concordia-St. Paul (1,072), Palm Beach Atlantic (7 first place, 1,046), Minnesota Duluth (1 first place, 1,025), Cal Baptist (3 first place, 999), Central Oklahoma (1 first place, 882), Nebraska-Kearney (840), Northern State (763) and N.W. Nazarene (727) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by Regis (12th), Tarleton State (15th), Angelo State (17th) and Colorado School of Mines (22nd).
