CANYON, Texas – The #12 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M look to rebound as they head to Commerce, Texas to take on the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. inside of the TAMUC Fieldhouse.

The Lions are guided by 17th year head coach Sam Walker. Entering the 2016-17 season, Walker stands as the second-winningest active coach in the Lone Star Conference with 266 career victories, and also ranks fifth all-time in winning percentage among coaches with at least 50 career victories, winning 58 percent of his games.

Texas A&M-Commerce enters the weekend with an overall record of 13-4 with a 5-3 mark in Lone Star Conference play following an 81-64 road loss to UT Permian Basin on Thursday night in Odessa. TAMUC is 6-2 at home this season including 1-2 in LSC play inside of the TAMUC Fieldhouse.

The Lions are led offensively by Malik Albert who has gone 92-of-204 from the floor including 23-of-71 from deep and 70-of-103 from the charity stripe while averaging 4.7 rebounds and 18.5 points per game so far this season. TAMUC has gone 502-of-1113 (45.1%) from the field including 116-of-366 (31.7%) from deep and 342-of-520 (65.8%) from the free throw line while averaging 39.6 (-0.6) rebounds and 86.0 (+8.9) points per game.

The Buffs lead the all-time series against the Lions, 49-30 with WT taking the last two meetings between the two teams. WT is 24-17 inside of the TAMU Fieldhouse, winning three of the last five in Commerce.

The #12 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M shot just 35% from the floor as they snapped a three game win streak on Thursday night with a 91-73 loss to the #11 Texans of Tarleton State in front of over 2,300 fans at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville, Texas.

The Buffs went 21-of-60 (35%) from the field including 9-of-28 (32.1%) from deep and 22-of-35 (62.9%) from the free throw line with 29 rebounds (12 offensive, 17 defensive), nine assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and seven steals.
Jordan Evans and
Drew Evans led the way for the Buffs with 13 points each followed by White with eight and Gove with seven while Quaid grabbed four rebounds.

The West Texas A&M Buffaloes used four players in double-digits including a double-double by senior
Jeff Bonner in his last home game at the First United Bank Center as the Buffs raced past the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions, 93-84 in front of over 1,200 fans.

The Buffs went 29-of-68 (42.6%) from the field including 15-of-35 (42.9%) from deep and 20-of-26 (76.9%) from the charity stripe to go along with 38 rebounds (16 offensive, 22 defensive), 17 fouls, 17 assists, 10 turnovers, four blocks and five steals. Chavlovich went 7-of-18 from the floor including a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line to lead the Buffs with 28 points followed by Evans (19), Quaid (16) and Bonner (10) who finished with a double-double with 11 rebounds.

Junior guard
David Chavlovich is quickly making his way up WT's all-time career scoring list as the Arlington native has scored 1,494 points in his 79 career games in Maroon & White to average an impressive 18.9 points per contest. Chavlovich's three points against Tarleton State on Thursday night kept the junior guard in second place all-time after passing Reggie Ramey (1973-76 / 1,440). Chavlovich now sits just 72 points behind Martin Lattibeaudiere (1993-97 | 1,566) for WT's all-time scoring mark.

NABC DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (JAN. 17)
The Buffs are tied for the most wins in any level of NCAA Basketball (UCLA, Villanova, Creighton) as they enter the week with an 18-2 overall record with a 6-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play to sit tied atop of the league standings.

Northwest Missouri State picked up 12 of the possible 16 first place votes for a total of 396 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Fairmont State (four first place, 388), Queens (360), West Liberty (346), Cal Baptist (330), Wheeling Jesuit (318), Barry (301), Shippensburg (295), Southern Indiana (282) and Indiana, Pa. (242) to round out the top ten.

West Texas A&M hits the road for a five game road trip following a pair of LSC home wins this past weekend, the Buffs are a perfect 11-0 at home this season. During those 11 home contests, WT has shot 47.8% (328-of-686) including 32.9% (99-of-301) from behind the arc and 75.1% (257-of-342) from the charity stripe to go along with 40.3 (+5.9) rebounds per game and 92.0 (+17.0) points per contest.
