CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs continue Lone Star Conference action this weekend as they host Tarleton State and #8 Angelo State at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. WT and the TexAnns will battle on Friday night at 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Belles at 2 p.m.

TARLETON STATE
The TexAnns are led by 12th year head coach Mary Schindler who las led her alma mater to back-to-back NCAA Postseason Appearances and the 2015 Lone Star Conference Championship.

Tarleton State enters the weekend with an overall record of 9-2 with a 2-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play following a three set loss at home to #8 Angelo State on Tuesday night in Stephenville.

The TexAnns are led offensively by the nation's kills and points leader Hailey Roberts who has registered 201 kills (6.08/set) on 480 swings with 71 attack errors to hit .271 on the season. Jordyn Keamo paces the TSU offense with 422 assists (11.41/set) while Adrianna Knutson leads TSU defensively with 189 digs (5.11/set).

The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against Tarleton State, 42-5 with the TexAnns taking the last three meetings between the two teams. TSU is 21-3 all-time in Canyon as the TexAnns have won their last two trips to The Box.

#8 ANGELO STATE
The Belles are led by eighth year head coach Chuck Waddington who had led ASU to four straight NCAA Postseason Appearances including three South Central Regional Finals.

Angelo State enters the weekend with an overall record of 12-1 with a perfect 3-0 mark in LSC play, the Belles swept past Tarleton State on Tuesday night in Stephenville to remain perfect in LSC play and register their fourth straight win.

The Belles are led offensively by Mallory Blausser who has registered 200 kills on 513 swings with 32 attack errors to hit .327 on the season while averaging 5.2 kills per set. Defending LSC Setter of the Week Meghan Parker guides the ASU offense with 513 assists (11.93/set) while Brianna Sotello leads the team with 156 digs (3.63/set).Â

The Lady Buffs and Belles will resume one of the best rivalries in DII Volleyball this weekend as WT leads the all-time series, 55-18 with ASU claiming the last three meetings between the two teams including a sweep in last year's LSC Quarterfinals in Stephenville. Angelo is 5-27 all-time in Canyon.

THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering the weekend, LSC volleyball teams are 68-49 overall this season. The squads are currently 14-9 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 16-4 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region. Elisa Bentsen picked up the Defensive honors, ASU's Meghan Parker was tabbed the league's Setter of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the LSC offices located in Richardson, Texas.

LSC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Elisa Bentsen continued to lead WT this past week as the senior from Hesperia, California ran the Lady Buff win streak to four matches to move to 6-4 overall with a 2-0 start to LSC play with wins on the road over Cameron and Midwestern State. The senior registered 23 kills on 45 swings with just five attack errors to hit .400 on the weekend to go along with seven digs and an incredible 18 total blocks (four solo, 14 assisted) to average 2.00 per set. Bentsen set a new career high with 15 kills on Friday night in Lawton as the Lady Buffs topped Cameron, she tallied three digs and nine blocks in the victory.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball, in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Regional Titles and three NCAA Division II National Championships. The WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 445-70 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.7%.

WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach
Jason Skoch, a four-time Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, is now in his eighth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 358-71 (.837, 12th year including a 222-51 (.816) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA Postseason with three South Central Regional Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

Lauren Britten is making her way up the program's all-time digs list as the Amarillo High School alumni currently sits in seventh place in the WT record books with 1,741 career digs. She is one of only nine Lady Buffs in history with atleast 1,500 career digs and the Amarillo native currently sits 18 digs behind Holly Morgan (1,759 / 1995-98) for sixth place all-time.
