Bentsen’s Big Night Leads the Lady Buffs Past A&M-Commerce in Four Sets in the Regular Season Finale

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M ended their 2016 regular season on a high note on Saturday night as they registered 13 total blocks to outlast the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce (25-18, 15-25, 25-13, 25-21) in front of over 700 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Buffs finish the regular season with an overall record of 18-13 (12-8 LSC) while the Lions fall to 19-12 (13-7 LSC) overall.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Bentsen with 13 kills on 23 swings with just two attack errors to hit .478 on the night followed by Haley with 11 and Kress with 10 kills in the win, Batiste dished out a match high 28 assists followed by Schulz with 10 while Britten tallied 13 digs in her final match at The Box to run her career total to an incredible 2,067 to sit in third place all-time. WT registered 46 kills on 125 swings with 19 attack errors to hit .216 as a team with 40 assists, 50 digs and 13 total blocks.
 
Texas A&M-Commerce was led by Driver with 11 kills on 27 swings with five attack errors to hit .222 on the night followed by Sydney Reyes with eight kills, Rosa and Fuentes dished out 19 assists each while Mireles tallied 16 digs followed by Rutledge with 11. The Lions registered 43 kills on 145 swings with 35 attack errors to hit .055 as a team with 41 assists, 52 digs and five blocks in the loss.

UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs will now take part in the 2016 Lone Star Conference Championship next weekend at the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas as they will be the six-seed in the event and take on third-seeded Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday afternoon with first serve set for 12 p.m.
