CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M started fast and never looked back as they swept past the visiting Pioneers of Texas Woman's (25-13, 30-28, 25-12) in Lone Star Conference action on Senior Night at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon in front of over 700 fans. The Lady Buffs improve to 17-13 (11-8 LSC) on the season while the Pioneers fall to 9-19 (5-14 LSC) overall.
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by
Taylor Kress with a career high 15 kills on 31 swings with five attack errors to hit .323 on the night followed by
Cori Haley with 13 kills and 11 digs for a double-double,
Selena Batiste paced the WT offense with 36 assists to go along with 11 digs for a double-double. WT registered 48 kills on 113 swings with 17 attack errors to hit .274 with 44 assists, 51 digs and seven total blocks.
Texas Woman's was led by Sara Oxford with 10 kills on 22 swings with two attack errors to hit .364 on the night followed by Haley Collins with eight kills, Katy Ranes dished out a team high 14 assists while Erin Jones led the way defensively with eight digs in the loss. The Pioneers registered 27 kills on 106 swings with 22 attack errors to hit .047 as a team with 24 assists, 40 digs and six total blocks on the night.

The Lady Buffs wrap up the regular season tomorrow night as they host the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce in the season finale with first serve set for 7:30 p.m. at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. The Lady Buffs have locked up the sixth seed in the Lone Star Conference Championship next weekend as they will take on either Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M-Commerce or Eastern New Mexico in the opening round on Thursday at the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas. The complete tournament schedule will be released following tomorrow's final day of the regular season.
