CANYON, Texas – The 19-time and defending Lone Star Conference Champion #22 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will begin their 2015 season inside the friendly confines of the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" this weekend as they host the annual BritKare Lady Buff Classic with matchups scheduled against Dallas Baptist, Colorado State-Pueblo, Adams State and Lubbock Christian with LSC foe Eastern New Mexico also taking part in the event.
WEST TEXAS A&MThe Lady Buffs enter the 2015 season with high hopes following the team's 10th straight and 25th overall appearance in the NCAA Postseason in 2014 as they advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals. The Lady Buffs will have to replace a pair of All-Americans in
Kameryn Hayes and
Lauren Bevan but
Lexi Davis returns to the front row as the lone senior on this year's team but the Dumas native has plenty of big-match experience for WT along with juniors
Lauren Britten,
Cori Haley,
Aspen Sanders and
McKenzie Long.
HOME DOMINANCEThe WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 433-62 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 87.5%. The Lady Buffs are no-stranger to starting off the season on a high-note, WT is 30-5 all-time in season opening games including an impressive 26-1 when the Lady Buffs open-up the season at home.

Jason Skoch, the 2014 Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, is now in his seventh season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 336-50 (.870, 12th year) including a 200-30 (.865) mark in Canyon.

ANOTHER UNDEFEATED LSC SEASONThe Lady Buffs finished the 2014 Lone Star Conference schedule with a perfect 16-0 record for the second straight season. West Texas A&M has finished the league schedule unbeaten an incredible 16 times since the 1986 season as they claimed the program's 19th LSC Title.
LONE STAR CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLLThe defending Lone Star Conference Champion Lady Buffs were selected atop of the league's Preseason Volleyball Poll for the 10th straight season announced on August 4th. It marks the 19th time in the last 20 seasons that the Lady Buffs have been selected atop of the poll with the lone second place coming in 2005 following a 19-11 campaign in 1994. The 1995 team responded with a 30-8 overall record while advancing to the South Central Regional Finals before falling just shy of another Elite Eight trip in a five set thriller to Central Missouri. The Lady Buffs picked up 19 of the possible 25 first place votes for a total of 218 followed by 2014 LSC Tournament Champion Tarleton State who grabbed five first place votes for a total of 186. Fellow NCAA Postseason participant Angelo State picked up the final first place vote for a total of 179 followed by Texas Woman's (147), Texas A&M-Kingsville (115), Cameron (87), Texas A&M-Commerce (75), Eastern New Mexico (65) and Midwestern State (53).
DALLAS BAPTISTThe Lady Patriots enter the season following a 11-16 overall record last season under 13th year head coach Cathy Kokel. DBU is just two years removed from advancing to the NCAA Regional Tournament after winning the Heartland Conference Tournament in 2013 before falling to WT in the Regional Quarters. The Lady Patriots will have to replace Heartland Offensive Player of the Year Tiara Gipson but DBU returns three seniors and five juniors for 2015. The Lady Buffs are a perfect 10-0 all-time against the Lady Patriots.
CSU-PUEBLOThe ThunderWolves finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 17-12 with a 11-7 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) under fifth year head coach Jen Gomez. Pueblo returns RMCA Defensive Player of the Year Oni Latten to the middle of the net as they will look to nine upper-classmen for experience. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against CSUP, 1-0 with WT topping the ThunderWolves in straight sets back on 9-5-13 during the season opener in Canyon.
ADAMS STATE The Grizzlies enter the 2015 season following an overall record of 14-14 with a 8-10 mark in RMAC play under 11th year head coach Lindy Mortensen. ASU returns the 2014 RMAC Freshman of the Year Mallory Grimsrud along with experiences letter-winners Katelyn Schwartz and Allie Miller. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Grizzlies, 7-2 including a sweep in last year's season opener during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon.
LUBBOCK CHRISTIANThe Lady Chaps enter their first season as a full Division II member in 2015 following an overall record of 18-5 with a 13-3 mark in Heartland Conference play to finish in second place under head coach Jennifer Lawrence who enters her 12th season in Lubbock. LCU returns senior outsider Maddie Johnson who led the team in kills last season with 270 for an average of 3.42 per set. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Lady Chaps, 25-4-1 with WT claiming a pair of four set victories last season.
