Pioneers Register Their First Ever Win in Canyon, Sweep Past the Lady Buffs in LSC Action

CANYON, Texas – The Pioneers of Texas Woman's registered their first ever win in Canyon in 23 tries on Saturday afternoon as they swept past the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M (14-25, 25-27, 19-25) in front of over 350 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box". The Lady Buffs fall to 4-6 (0-2 LSC) while the Pioneers improve to 8-2 (2-0 LSC) with the win.
 
The Lady Buffs were led by Curl with 12 kills on 28 swings to hit .286 while registering 11 digs for the double-double, Jackson guided the WT offense with 34 assists to tie a match high while Montgomery also tallied 11 digs for the Lady Buffs. WT hit .160 as a team with 38 kills on 119 swings with 19 attack errors to go along with 37 assists, 43 digs, one service ace and four total blocks in the match.
 
Texas Woman's was led offensively by Schaffer with 12 kills to lead all players followed by Mayfield with 11 kills in the match, Redwine tied a match high with 34 assists on the afternoon while Kuechle led all players with 16 digs in the match. TWU hit .243 as a team with 39 kills on 103 swings with 14 attack errors to go along with 38 assists, 52 digs, eight service errors and three blocks in the match.

The Lady Buffs return to action next weekend as they hit the road for Lone Star Conference action as they take on the defending LSC Tournament Champions TexAnns of Tarleton State on Friday night at 6 p.m. in Stephenville followed by a matchup with the rival Belles of Angelo State on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside of the Junell Center.
