Curl’s Big Night Isn’t Enough as the Lady Buffs Fall to Tarleton State in Four Sets

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – West Texas A&M's Courtnee Curl registered a career high 19 kills to go along with 11 digs for a double-double but her performance wasn't enough as the Lady Buffs fell to Tarleton State (20-25, 23-25, 25-17, 19-25) in front of almost 600 fans at Wisdom Gym South in Stephenville on Friday night. The Lady Buffs drop their sixth straight contest to move to 4-7 (0-3 LSC) while the TexAnns improve to 11-3 (2-1 LSC).
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Curl with a career high 19 kills on 48 swings with nine attack errors to hit .208 on the night while also registering 11 digs for a double-double, Lexi Davis registered eight kills and eight total blocks on the night while Jackson guided the WT offense with 38 assists while Sanders led the team with 15 digs in the match. West Texas A&M hit .192 as a team with 43 kills on 125 swings with 19 attack errors to go along with 41 assists, nine service aces, 56 digs and 11 total blocks on the night.
 
The TexAnns were led by Roberts with 18 kills on 42 swings with 11 attack errors to hit .167 on the night to go along with 17 digs while Mathis also registered double-digit kills with 13, Gow led all players with 46 assists on the night while Garcia registered a match high 20 digs. Tarleton State hit .190 as a team with 56 kills on 146 swings with 28 attack errors to go along with 51 assists, eight service aces, 58 digs and 11 total blocks in the match.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs return to action tomorrow afternoon as they head to San Angelo, Texas for a matchup with the rival Belles of Angelo State with first serve set for 2:00 p.m. inside of the Junell Center. ASU swept past Eastern New Mexico (25-15, 25-9, 25-21) on Friday night in San Angelo.
