Lady Buffs Fall to Angelo State in Straight Sets on Saturday Afternoon at the Junell Center

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The youth struggles continued for West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the rival Rambelles of Angelo State in straight sets (14-25, 19-25, 18-25) at Stephens Arena located inside of the Junell Center in front of over 650 fans in San Angelo, Texas. The Lady Buffs drop their seventh straight contest to fall to 4-8 (0-4 LSC) while the Belles improve to 15-3 (4-0 LSC) with the win.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Courtnee Curl with nine kills on 22 swings with three attack errors to hit .273 on the afternoon while Jackson and Elisa Bentsen tallied four kills each, Jackson guided the WT offense with 24 assists to go along with 12 digs for the double-double while Montgomery also tallied 12 digs in the match. The Lady Buffs hit .094 as a team with 33 kills on 128 swings with 21 attack errors to go along with 29 assists, one service ace, 55 digs and eight blocks in the match.
 
The Belles were led by Blauser with 13 kills on 43 attempts with seven errors to hit .140 while Lynn and Sotello also tallied double-digit kills for ASU, Keffury dished out a match high 37 assists on the afternoon while MacLeay led all players with 23 digs in the match. Angelo State hit .246 as a team with 46 kills on 126 attempts with 15 attack errors to go along with 43 assists, three service aces, 67 digs and six total blocks on the afternoon.

The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday as they continue Lone Star Conference play on the road at Midwestern State in a Highway 287 Challenge matchup with first serve set for 6:00 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls, Texas. WT returns to Canyon this weekend for a Saturday triangular with Oklahoma City University and Southwestern Oklahoma State at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box". WT will take on the Stars starting at 2:00 p.m. followed by an OCU/SWOSU matchup at 5:00 p.m. before the Lady Buffs and Bulldogs wrap-up action starting at 7:30 p.m.
