Lady Buffs Host Cameron in Lone Star Conference Action on Tuesday Night

CANYON, Texas –
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will host the Aggies of Cameron University on Tuesday night in Lone Star Conference action at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box". WT enters the week with an overall record of 9-3 with a perfect 2-0 mark in league play as they carry a 26 match conference win streak into Tuesday's game.
 
WEST TEXAS A&M
The then #20 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M went 2-1 at this past weekend's McKendree Classic in Lebanon, Illinois with wins over Quincy and the host Bearcats while suffering a three set loss to Truman State as WT moved to 9-3 overall on the season. Lauren Bevan continued to lead the way offensively for the Lady Buffs this past weekend as the senior outside registered 43 kills for an average of 3.91 per set while fellow senior Kameryn Hayes dished out 72 assists to go along with 32 kills and 27 digs on the weekend including a triple-double against Quincy on Friday with 12 kills, 26 assists and 12 digs on the night.
 
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, the 2013 LSC and South Central Region Coach of the Year, is now in his sixth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 313-48 (.868, 11th year) including a 177-28 (.863) mark in Canyon.
 
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (SEPT. 22)
The September 22nd version of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll had the Lady Buffs falling out of the rankings for the first time in 41 weeks. The last time that the Lady Buffs weren't ranked was the Preseason Poll on August 8, 2011 following a 2010 campaign that saw WT finish 27-9 with an appearance in the South Central Regional Quarterfinals.
 
THE 2014 SCHEDULE
The Lady Buffs will play 33 scheduled matches during the regular season including 16 Lone Star Conference contests, the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" will see a total of 13 regular season contests during the season with eight of those coming in league play. The 2013 Lady Buffs finished the season with an overall record of 35-4 with a perfect 16-0 mark in LSC play to claim the league title while going 22-0 in the friendly confines of "The Box".
 
HOME SWEET HOME
The WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boasts one of the most successful home-court advantages in the history of NCAA Volleyball on any level. WT is an amazing 423-61 all-time at The Box for a winning percentage of over 88%.

50 YEARS OF LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALL
The 2014 season marks the 50th year of Lady Buff Volleyball. The Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville will travel to Canyon on October 18th for a matchup during the WT Volleyball 50 Year Celebration at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. Former team members and boosters will return to Canyon for a celebration including a meet & greet, anniversary dinner along with recognition during WT's match with Texas A&M-Kingsville.
 
CAMERON
The Aggies of Cameron enter the week with an overall record of 5-4 with a 1-3 mark in the Lone Star Conference following a three set loss to Texas Woman's and a five set thrilling win over Texas A&M-Commerce last weekend on the road. The Aggies are led offensively by Kat Evans with 100 kills for an average of 2.78 per frame while teammate Ingrid Boatman had dished out a team high 217 assists for an average of 6.38 per frame. Cameron is led by first year head coach Qi Wang who served as the assistant at Angelo State for the past four seasons. The Lady Buffs carry a 26 match conference win streak into the contest along with a 42-2 all-time record against the Aggies with WT taking the last 23 meetings between the two teams.
