#20 Lady Buffs Open Their LSC Home Schedule Tuesday Night Against ENMU

CANYON, Texas –
Following a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational, the #20 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will open their 2014 Lone Star Conference home schedule on Tuesday night as the look to continue their 25 match LSC win streak against the rival Zias of Eastern New Mexico with first serve set for 7 p.m. at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
 
WEST TEXAS A&M
The then #16 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M went a perfect 4-0 this past weekend to move to 6-2 (1-0 LSC) on the season as they registered wins over Adelphi, Fort Lewis, American International and Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas. WT was led offensively by Lauren Bevan who was named the Tournament MVP with 48 total kills for an average of 3.69 per set to go along with 32 digs as the senior tallied a pair of double-doubles on the weekend. Fellow senior Kameryn Hayes joined Bevan on the all-tourny team as the Cypress native dished out a team high 79 assists for an average of 5.43 per frame while also tallying 33 kills and 31 digs, Hayes registered her first career triple-double on Saturday afternoon against Kingsville with 10 kills, 24 assists and 11 digs in the four set WT win.
 
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, the 2013 LSC and South Central Region Coach of the Year, enters his sixth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs in 2014 carrying an overall career record of 306-47 (.868, 11th year) including a 170-27 (.863) mark in Canyon.
 
THE 2014 SCHEDULE
The Lady Buffs will play 33 scheduled matches during the regular season including 16 Lone Star Conference contests, the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" will see a total of 13 regular season contests during the season with eight of those coming in league play. The 2013 Lady Buffs finished the season with an overall record of 35-4 with a perfect 16-0 mark in LSC play to claim the league title while going 22-0 in the friendly confines of "The Box".

The WTAMU Fielhouse "The Box" boasts one of the most successful home-court advantages in the history of NCAA Volleyball on any level. WT is an amazing 422-61 all-time at The Box for a winning percentage of over 88%.

50 YEARS OF LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALL
The 2014 season marks the 50th year of Lady Buff Volleyball. The Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville will travel to Canyon on October 18th for a matchup during the WT Volleyball 50 Year Celebration at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. Former team members and boosters will return to Canyon for a celebration including a meet & greet, anniversary dinner along with recognition during WT's match with Texas A&M-Kingsville.
 
EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The Zias of Eastern New Mexico enter Tuesday's match with an overall record of 4-4 (0-1 LSC) following a 3-1 showing at the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invite in Kingsville last weekend. Eastern is led offensively by Lauren Frye with 99 kills on the season for an average of 3.19 per set while teammate Kennedi Catano has dished out 137 assists. ENMU is led by second year head coach Sia Poyer. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Zias, 61-11 with WT taking the last 16 meetings between the two teams dating back to 2004 including the last eight in Canyon.
