KINGSVILLE, Texas – The #16 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M picked up their 25
th straight Lone Star Conference victory dating back to 2012 on Saturday afternoon as they topped Texas A&M-Kingsville (25-14, 17-25, 25-12, 25-21) to conclude the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational at the Steink Center in Kingsville, Texas. The Lady Buffs move to 6-2 (1-0 LSC) on the season while the Javelinas fall to 6-2 (1-1 LSC).

The opening set saw the Lady Buffs jump out to the early 6-3 lead on a
Kameryn Hayes kill from
Kyli Schulz before the Javelinas fought back to tie the frame at 6-6, the teams continued to trade blows before a TAMUK service error at 11-10 sparked a WT run highlighted by a Hayes finding
Jessica Johnson in the middle to run the lead to 15-11 to force a Kingsville timeout. The Lady Buffs continued their run after the break as they pushed their lead to as much as eight on a
Leah Mayer kill at 20-12 followed by three Kingsville attack errors and a
Lauren Bevan service ace to force set point, Kingsville answered with a point before Schulz found Hayes to end the set at 25-14.

The second frame started off with the Javelinas taking their turn on a run as they jumped out to an early 6-3 lead to force an early Lady Buff timeout, Kingsville slowly continued to build their lead as they stretched it to 14-7 on a pair of blocks and two WT attack errors to force WT's second timeout of the set at 14-7. The Javelinas continued to roll after the timeout as they quickly forced set point at 24-12 before a WT run highlighted by two Bevan kills to force a TAMUK timeout at 24-17, Kingsville's Casey Klobdeans found Ashley Tipps after the break for the kill to end the set at 25-17.

The third set saw the teams come out trading blows as they split the opening eight points of the frame before a block by Johnson and
Cori Haley sparked a WT run highlighted by a Hayes service ace and a
Sydney Harlan kill to take the 9-5 lead. Johnson and Haley connected again on the defensive end to continue the run heading into a Kingsville timeout at 10-5, WT stretched their lead to 13-6 on a Javelina service error and never looked back as another Bevan kill kept the momentum on WT's side, the Lady Buffs continued to click offensively as they ran the lead to 20-9 on a pair of Hayes kills from Schulz before two straight TAMUK points forced a WT timeout at 20-10. WT came out swinging after the break as they registered five of the next seven points in the frame ended by a Kingsville attack error to take the 25-12 win.

The fourth set saw the Lady Buffs carry over their momentum as the registered eight of the first 13 points of the frame with Bevan carrying the offensive load for the Lady Buffs as the senior tallied her 10
th kill of the match, the Javelinas fought back to tie the match at 11-11 before a Hayes kill and a
Lauren Britten service ace started another WT run to force a Lady Buff timeout at 17-13. The teams traded blows after the break as the Javelinas cut into the lead with a Lady Buff attack error at 20-18 to force a Kingsville timeout, the Javelinas tie the set at 21-21 after the break before a TAMUK attack error and ball handling error to force a Kingsville timeout at 23-21, another Kingsville attack error forced match point before Schulz found Harlan on the outside for the kill to end the match, 25-21.

The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Bevan with 16 kills followed by Harlan with 12 and Hayes with 10, Hayes dished out a team high 24 assists while Schulz had 20. Bevan, Bevan, Britten and Hayes all registered 11 digs in the match to give Bevan the double-double and Hayes the triple-double. West Texas A&M hit .213 as a team with 52 kills on 141 attempts with 22 attack errors while registering 51 assists, 49 digs and four total blocks.

The Javelinas were led by Ashley Tipps with 10 kills followed by Ashley Bukowski with eight and Stephanie Johns with seven, Casey Klobedans led all players with 32 assists on the afternoon while teammate Brett Zaccardo tallied 22 digs to lead all players. Kingsville hit .143 as a team with 39 kills on 119 attempts with 22 attack errors to go along with 36 assists and 58 digs while tallying seven blocks in the match.
