CANYON, Texas – Following a weekend that saw the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M go 2-2 at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon, the #16 Lady Buffs will look to rebound as they travel to Kingsville, Texas to take part in the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational at the Steinke Center.
WEST TEXAS A&MThe #16 Lady Buffs started off the 2014 season with a 2-2 mark at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon this past weekend with wins over Adams State and UC-Colorado Springs and defeats at the hands of Colorado Mesa and Regis. The Lady Buffs were led by All-Tournament selection
Lauren Bevan with 56 kills on the weekend for an average of 4.67 per set while teammate and fellow senior
Kameryn Hayes dished out a team leading 89 assists for an average of 7.42 per frame. The Lady Buffs will face the Panthers of Adelphi (10:30 a.m.) and RMAC foe Fort Lewis (3:30 p.m.) on Friday before a matchup with American International (8 a.m.) and an LSC contest against the host Javelinas (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday.

Jason Skoch, the 2013 LSC and South Central Region Coach of the Year, enters his sixth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs in 2014 carrying an overall career record of 306-47 (.868, 11th year) including a 170-27 (.863) mark in Canyon.
THE 2013 SCHEDULEThe Lady Buffs will play 33 scheduled matches during the regular season including 16 Lone Star Conference contests, the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" will see a total of 13 regular season contests during the season with eight of those coming in league play. The 2013 Lady Buffs finished the season with an overall record of 35-4 with a perfect 16-0 mark in LSC play to claim the league title while going 22-0 in the friendly confines of "The Box".
HOME SWEET HOMEThe WTAMU Fielhouse "The Box" boasts one of the most successful home-court advantages in the history of NCAA Volleyball on any level. WT is an amazing 422-61 all-time at The Box for a winning percentage of over 88%.

AROUND THE LONE STAR CONFERENCETeams began Lone Star Conference on Tuesday night as a pair of league matches were played. The #25 Belles of Angelo State topped Texas Woman's in four sets in San Angelo while the TexAnns of Tarleton State made quick work of Texas A&M-Commerce in Stephenville. This weekend's Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational will see the host Javelinas welcome the Lady Buffs and Eastern New Mexico to town along with Adelphi, American International and Fort Lewis with matches consisting of LSC members counting toward their league record.
50 YEARS OF LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALLThe 2014 season marks the 50th year of Lady Buff Volleyball. The Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville will travel to Canyon on October 18th for a matchup during the WT Volleyball 50 Year Celebration at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. Former team members and boosters will return to Canyon for a celebration including a meet & greet, anniversary dinner along with recognition during WT's match with Texas A&M-Kingsville.
ADELPHIThe Panthers (Northeast 10 Conference) enter the weekend with an overall record of 0-5 as they took part in the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament at Clarion University last weekend, Adelphi fell to Dowling College in a five set thriller on Tuesday night. The Panthers are led by senior middle blocker Kaitlyn DeStefano who has registered 48 kills on the year to go along with 10 total blocks while Alayna Jackson leads the team with 96 assists. Adelphi is led by 8th year head coach Danielle MacKnight. Friday morning will mark the first ever meeting between West Texas A&M and Adelphi.
FORT LEWISThe Skyhawks of Fort Lewis enter the weekend with an overall record of 1-3 after a win over Northwestern Oklahoma State and losses to Midwestern State, then #10 Washburn and Cameron at last weekend's MSU Hampton Inn Inviatational in Wichita Falls. Fort Lewis is led offensively by Ashley Wells with 36 kills for an average of 2.25 per set while teammate Ciara Krening has dished out a team high 65 assists. The Skyhawks are led by second year head coach Kelley Rifilato. The Lady Buffs are 2-0 all-time against Fort Lewis with the last meeting coming at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in 2008 as WT swept the Skyhawks.
AMERICAN INTERNATIONALThe Yellow Jackets of American International (Northeast 10 Conference) enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-2 after participating in the East Stroudsburg Invite with wins over the host Warriors and Bowie State. AIU is led offensively by Bailey Swan with 41 total kills for an average of 2.97 per frame while also tallying six total blocks, teammate Vanessa Ruiz leads the team in assists with 102 for an average of 7.29 per set. The Yellow Jackets are led by third year head coach Matt Cribbin and Saturday will mark the first ever meeting between WT and American International.
TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLEThe Javelinas enter the weekend with an overall record of 3-1 after wins over Southern Arkansas, St. Cloud State and UNC-Pembroke at last weekend's Rollins College Invite. Kingsville is led offensively by Ashley Bukowski with 48 kills for an average of 3.2 per set while teammate Ashley Tipps leads TAMUK in blocks with 15.0. The Javelinas are led by fourth year head coach Tanya Allen. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against TAMUK, 47-6 with WT claiming the 15 meetings between the two teams dating back to 2004. The Lady Buff have claimed the last seven meetings at the Steinke Center in Kingsville.
