The Lady Buffs will host the top team in the conference, ASU, on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by MSU on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

A LOOK AT THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE: The Lady Buffs currently find themselves on the outside looking in after two weeks of LSC play as they hold the fifth spot in the standings with a 1-2 conference record and three points. Four teams will make the LSC Tournament field to be hosted by the No. 1 seed on Nov. 7-9. The eighth ranked Rambelles of ASU sit atop the league with seven points and a 2-0-1 record. Eastern New Mexico (2-1) and Texas A&M-Commerce (2-2) are tied for second with two points each while Texas Woman's sits at fourth with four points and a 1-2-1 league mark. Currently at the bottom is defending LSC Tournament Champion and Co-LSC Regular Season Champion MSU (0-1-2) with two points.

ANGELO STATE AT A GLANCE: The No. 8 Rambelles have had an excellent season thus far as they continue to climb the rankings with an undefeated record of 9-0-1. ASU, last season's Co-LSC Champion and LSC Tournament No. 1 seed, has outscored its opponents 33-3 and has not allowed a goal in the previous six matches dating back to Sept. 13. They began the season with six-consecutive wins over Adams State (4-2), New Mexico Highlands (4-0), Fort Lewis (4-0), Colorado Mesa (4-1), Oklahoma Christian (8-0) and St. Mary's (4-0). The Rambelles opened up LSC play with a scoreless draw against MSU. Since, ASU defeated UT-Permian Basin (4-0), TAMUC (1-0) and TWU (1-0).

ASU boasts a very balanced scoring attack as 15 players have contributed to its 33 total goals. Leading the way has been Haley Mendel with a team-high seven goals and 17 points. Sierra Anderson and Loni Byers have also been consistent attack threats tallying five and four goals each, respectively. Shantel Wittke has seen the majority of time in goal totaling 738 minutes in eight appearances. She owns a 0.37 GAA and a .921 save percentage with 35 saves and a 7-0-1 record.

WT is 15-8-5 all-time against ASU. The Lady Buffs lost both regular season matchups last season before defeating ASU 1-0 in the LSC Tournament Semi-Finals.

MIDWESTERN STATE AT A GLANCE: The Mustangs had a slow start to the 2014 season as they tied their first three contests to Colorado Mesa (2-2), No. 24 Fort Lewis (0-0) and Western State (0-0). MSU then rebounded to win four straight against Southwestern Oklahoma State (3-0), Oklahoma Christian (6-0), Lubbock Christian (2-1) and Southern Nazarene (6-1). The Mustangs began LSC play with a 0-0 draw against then No. 11 ASU before drawing with TWU (1-1) and falling to TAMUC (1-2) while winning a non-conference matchup with St. Edward's (1-0). Before traveling to Canyon, MSU will face ENMU in Portales, N.M. on Friday, Oct. 10.

Destinee Williamson has led the way for MSU offensively with a team-high five goals and 13 points. Nicole Coetzer has tallied four goals while preseason LSC Offensive Player of the Year Ashley Cottrell has added three scores and an assist. 10 players have recorded goals for the Mustangs thus far. Courtney Burnette, two-time LSC Defensive Player of the Week already, has made all 11 starts for MSU and boasts a 0.57 GAA and a .904 save percentage with 66 total saves.

WT is 15-17-2 all-time against the Mustangs and dropped both regular season matchups in 2013 before playing to a 2-2 draw in the LSC Tournament Championship where the Lady Buffs were eliminated in a shootout.

EASTERN NEW MEXICO REVISITED: The Lady Buff soccer team dropped a key LSC contest to the rival Zias of Eastern New Mexico, 1-0, last Friday night at The Pitch. An early free kick goal by Melissa Moxley would be enough to give the Zias (5-4, 2-1 LSC) the win, despite a late second half offensive surge by WT, which fell to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The Zias nearly took the lead in the 25th minute as Alyssa Prince broke free off a misplayed ball by the WT defense just inside their attacking zone. The Lady Buffs would recover quickly though to clear the ball out of play.

Moxley would put the Zias up on the scoreboard early; however, with a perfectly placed free kick. After a WT foul from about 30 yards out near the far right wing in the 32nd minute, Moxley took the kick and sank the game-winning score in over Nicole Kemper's reach for her second goal of the season.

Both teams were knotted at nine shots apiece when all was said and done; however, ENMU held the 6-3 shots-on-goal advantage. Leading the way offensively for WT was junior Dominique Premac with three attempts while six others contributed one shot each. Kemper received her first loss in goal of the season and fell to 1-1 after her second start in goal for WT. She picked up five saves while playing the entire 90 minutes. Wilson grabbed the win for ENMU and improved to 3-1 after picking up three saves and allowing no goals.

With the loss, WT fell to 10-5-1 all-time against the Zias and is now winless in three previous meetings. The two teams will meet again this season on Friday, Oct. 17 in Portales, N.M. for a 4 p.m. (CT) kickoff.

SOUTHERN NAZARENE REVISITED: WT closed out its 2014 non-conference schedule with a 3-1 victory over Southern Nazarene on Monday night at The Pitch. The Lady Buffs were led by junior Emily Krenek who tallied two goals, including the game-winner, to propel the Lady Buffs to 5-6 (1-2, LSC). With the loss, the Crimson Storm fell to 4-6 (2-1 GAC). Monday's match was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

WT led SNU in total shots Monday, 15-13, and shots-on-goal 10-6. Leading the way for the Lady Buffs were senior Jessie Thomas with five and Krenek with three. Kemper grabbed the win in goal and improved to 2-1 on the season. She picked up five saves and allowed one goal.

Krenek would tap in the first of her two goals on the night at the 19:54 mark. Sophomore Brady Prescott dribbled through traffic into the box along the edge of the right wing and sent a centering ball straight to Krenek who beat Fuentes from the left wing with a strike just inside the left post.

Just 12 minutes later, Krenek found the net again for her second goal of the night and team-high sixth goal of the season. Her goal would be nearly identical to the first, this time with a cross by Thomas to the same spot, allowing Krenek to beat Fuentes over the left shoulder and again into the net inside the left post.

Barely over a minute into the second half, SNU would cut the Lady Buffs' lead to one. WT committed a foul outside the corner of the far left wing about 30 yards out at the 46:18 mark. Grace Self stepped up for the visitors to take the free kick and sank a shot over the reach of Kemper into the back of the net for her second goal of the year.

Only 47 seconds later, Thomas would respond with a goal for the Lady Buffs to increase the lead to 3-1. Prescott picked up her second assist of the evening as she sent a cross from the center of the box to Thomas on the close right wing who then grabbed the goal from eight yards outside the right post.

Fuentes received the loss for SNU and fell to 4-6. She tallied seven saves and allowed three goals in 90 minutes of action.
