CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M dominated Wayland Baptist with a decisive 5-0 victory, featuring 16 shots on goal and a first-half performance that produced four goals at The Pitch at Buffalo Sports Park.

The first half saw WT seize control early, with
Jade Martinez opening the scoring in the 7th minute and doubling the lead with another goal in the 15th minute.
Avery Putnam then extended the advantage with a goal in the 39th minute, followed closely by another strike in the 43rd minute with assists from
Demi Madison and
Sarah Hernandez Lopez, respectively. The home side's offensive pressure was evident throughout, culminating in a commanding 4-0 lead by the end of the half.

The second half began with the Lady Buffs applying consistent pressure, highlighted by
Michelle Velasco's early shot on goal in the 50th minute, which was saved by Ashley Lopez.
Alicia Cohen remained a persistent threat, recording multiple attempts on target, but it was
Aaliyah McPeak who broke through with a decisive goal in the 85th minute, assisted by
Bailey Malone. The Lady Buffs' defense maintained a firm grip throughout, securing a 5-0 victory as the clock ran down.

Ashley Lopez stood out for Wayland Baptist with an impressive 11 saves, despite facing 26 shots and conceding 5 goals. Camila Zavala contributed offensively by taking one of the team's few shots, though it was off target. The team's defensive efforts were highlighted by Lopez's performance in goal, with 5 saves in the first half and 6 in the second.
