Christian Suthers tied the match up in the 63
rd minute for the Buffs; however, MSU was able to grab the game-winner less than a minute later. With the loss, the Buffs fall to 8-6-1 on the season while the Mustangs improve to 12-3-2.
The visitors held the 15-7 advantage in shots on the night and placed six of them on target to the Buffs' two. Leading the way for WT was Suthers with three while freshman
Ryan Perez added two. Sophomore keeper
Patrick Satorie took the loss after making four saves and allowing two goals. He falls to 6-6-1 on the year. Nick Petolick grabbed the win and improves to 12-3-2 after making one save and allowing one score.
The Mustangs pressured early and often in Thursday night's matchup. They got the game's first shot off just 38 seconds into the match, a blocked attempt off the feet of Albert Rodriguez. The visitors then took the early lead at just the 7:19 mark as Ben Clarvis took a long pass down the left side and dribbled inside the box past a defender and beat Satorie at the left corner for the 1-0 advantage.
In the 19
th minute, the Mustangs nearly added to the lead. Jevan Toledo took a pass at the top of the box from a teammate and sent a shot Satorie's way which appeared to be high but drilled the crossbar falling into traffic in the center of the box. The Mustangs would recover, allowing Toledo to get another shot off, this time missing the mark wide.
MSU dominated on the stat sheet through the first 45 minutes and led in shots at the break, 11-0. However, the Mustangs could only place two of those attempts on target, one coming early on with the goal. Rodriguez and Andrew Power both led the visitors with three each.
Suthers was able to generate two good looks right out of the break but sent shots wide right in the 49
th and 51
st minutes. Senior
Christopher Hutton was then able to get WT's first attempt on-goal in the 58
th minute, leading to Petolick's lone save of the night.
Then at the 62:21 mark, Suthers found the equalizer for WT. Sophomore
Chris Johnson sent in a cross from the left side to Suthers who slid through traffic in the box to beat Petolick at the low right corner.
It would only take 18 seconds; however, before the Mustangs found the answer and grabbed the game-winner. Kyle Baccus took a cross from the close left wing and beat Satorie to the left corner for his third score of the year.
WT now falls to 17-25-3 in the all-time series with the Mustangs. The Buffs dropped both meetings this season by one goal.

WT will return to action for a road rematch against the No. 22 Tigers of Fort Hays State on Sunday, Nov. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Hays, Kan. FORT HAYS STATE AT A GLANCE: FHSU currently owns a 11-3-2 overall record and has gone 8-2-1 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. The Tigers are currently undefeated in their previous 10 games while they won nine-straight before playing to a draw their last time out, 1-1 to then-15th ranked Northeastern State. Before hosting the Buffs on Sunday, the Tigers will close out their conference schedule at Upper Iowa on Thursday at 2 p.m.
The Tigers own a very balanced scoring attack as five players have recorded at least five goals each. Leading the way offensively has been Tanner Brock with a team-high goals (6) and points (18). Kent Freund has seen the majority of time in goal, starting 13 matches and appearing in 14, owning a .93 GAA and .803 save percentage while playing over 1,200 minutes. He boasts a 10-2-2 record with six shutouts and 53 saves on the year.
