CANYON, Texas – The #25 Lady Buffs hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Pueblo, Colorado for a South Central Regional showdown with the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves inside of Massari Arena with first serve set for 7:00 p.m. CT.
 
WT will remain in the Centennial State over the weekend as they take part in the historic Colorado Premiere Challenge beginning on Friday afternoon on the campus of Regis University with matchups against Anderson and #5 Ferris State.
 
CSU PUEBLO
The ThunderWolves enter the week with an overall record of 1-3 as they competed at the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational last weekend. CSUP started the event with a five-set win over East Central before dropping contests to Minnesota State-Moorhead, UT Permian Basin and host Angelo State.
 
Seniors Lilly Zwart and Chinaru Pao were named to the All-Tournament Team as Zwart led the team with 47 kills and a .286 attack percentage while Pao locked down the back row with 63 digs (3.94/set) and a .949 reception percentage.
 
2025 saw the ThunderWolves go 20-9 overall with a 11-3 mark inside of RMAC action to make the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2022. CSUP also finished a perfect 10-0 inside of Massari Arena a year ago as they enter Wednesday night riding a 14-match home win streak dating back to 2024.
 
CSU Pueblo returns four starters and seven letterwinners from last year's NCAA Tournament squad highlighted by AVCA Honorable Mention All-American setter Elena Stankovic who paced the Pack offense with 936 assists (9.75/set) to go along with 222 digs, 93 kills, 36 aces and 58 total blocks last season.
 
CSUP HEAD COACH JORDAN BRUERE
CSU Pueblo alumnus Jordan Bruere is in her second season at the helm of the ThunderWolves volleyball program.
 
Bruere came to Pueblo after spending the previous two seasons as the head volleyball coach at Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Western Colorado University. In her two seasons with the Mountaineers, she took a team that improved from two victories in her first season in 2023 to 12 victories and a spot in the RMAC Tournament after finishing 7-7 in league play during the 2024 season. The program finished 13th in the league in 2023 before finishing eighth in 2024 and advancing to the RMAC Tournament for the first time since 2021.
 
A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Wednesday night marks the 12th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and ThunderWolves. WT is a perfect 11-0 in a series that dates back to 1980. Wednesday will also be the first ever meeting between the two inside of Massari Arena in Pueblo. 
 
The Lady Buffs and ThunderWolves met three times during the 2025 campaign including the South Central Regional Quarterfinals in Denver. WT registered a .252 attack percentage in that match with 10 blocks and 84 digs as Currie Marusak led the way with 23 kills, Hannah Pemberton dished out a match-high 29 assists while Kaycee Cavanaugh had 21 digs and seven assists from the libero spot.
 
WELCOME TO THE BOX
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 22 Lone Star Conference Championships, 16 Regional Titles and four NCAA Division II National Championships. 
 
The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 571-87 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 87.0%.
 
LONE STAR CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
Defending league champion Angelo State claimed 41 of the possible 54 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 951 points followed by WT (seven first place, 883), Lubbock Christian (three first place, 837), UT Tyler (778) and St. Mary's (one first place, 698) to round out the top five.
 
Texas Woman's sits sixth followed by Oklahoma Christian, Texas A&M-Kingsville, DBU, Midwestern State, St. Edward's, UT Permian Basin, UT Dallas, Western New Mexico, Texas A&M International, Cameron and Eastern New Mexico.
 
THE GAMBLE ERA
Terry Gamble became the sixth head coach in WT history to lead the Lady Buffs to the NCAA Tournament during their inaugural season at the helm iin 2025. The Three-time National Champion and NJCAA Hall of Famer was named the 17th head coach in Lady Buff Volleyball history on February 4, 2025. 
 
Gamble has compiled a career record of 1,125-357 (.759) as he was just the third head coach in NJCAA history to reach 1,000 career wins on October 15, 2024. Gamble came to Canyon following seven seasons at Blinn College. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA volleyball championships (2000, 2004, 2006) and three NJCAA Coach of the Year awards.
 
2025 RECAP
2025 saw the Lady Buffs make the program's 32nd appearance in the NCAA Division II Volleyball postseason as they advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals with an overall record of 23-8.
 
LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs are ranked tied for 25th in the newest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll. It marks the 332nd time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times including twice during the 2023 campaign.
