Cavanaugh and Loewer Post Double-Doubles as Lady Buffs Knock off RV UT Tyler for Fourth Straight Win

WT wins three sets to one

TYLER, TEXAS – West Texas A&M Volleyball (11-9, 6-3 LSC) won their fourth straight match Friday evening as they took down RV UT Tyler 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 12-25, 25-18). Kaycee Cavanaugh and Casey Loewer each recorded double-doubles in the match.

Set one saw the Lady Buffs take an early 5-2 advantage with a pair of kills by Kaycee Cavanaugh. That lead would get extended to 9-4 off a 3-0 run as an ace by Parker Gladhill led to a timeout for the Patriots. UTT would start to chip back into the set with a pair of 3-0 runs of their own as set one would be tied 18-18. The Lady Buffs would rip off a 5-1 run with two kills by Anna Ruter during that stretch as they held a firm 23-19 lead. Cavanaugh finished off set one for WT with a kill as they took a 1-0 advantage following a 25-21 win.

The second set saw the Lady Buffs carry over their momentum as they burst out to a 7-2 lead with Cavanaugh tallying three kills. WT stayed persistent as a block by Gladhill and Kael Wilcox forced a UTT timeout with the score set at 11-4. The Patriots came out of that timeout halting the Lady Buffs momentum with a 5-2 run, but West Texas A&M responded 4-0 as an ace by Pauline Gonzales grew the lead back up to 17-9. The Lady Buffs would ultimately take set two 25-16 off an attack error by UT Tyler following a serve by Marin Brummund as they held the 2-0 advantage in the match.

The start of set number three saw the Patriots hold an early 6-5 lead, but they registered a 7-0 run as their advantage grew to eight with the score set at 13-5. The Lady Buffs were unable to string together a run to get back in the set as UTT took set three 25-12 for their first set win.

The fourth set again saw UTT hold a 6-5 lead and once again built on that lead with the score setting at 12-8. West Texas A&M did not go away quietly as kills by Wilcox and Cavanaugh tied and took the lead for WT at 14-13 as the Patriots called a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Lady Buffs momentum did not stop as Gladhill smashed a ball for a 21-15 WT lead as the Patriots called another timeout. West Texas A&M would finish off the set and match with a 4-1 run as Anna Ruter had the game-winning kill as WT took down RV UT Tyler 3-1 for their fourth straight win.
