CANYON, TEXAS – West Texas A&M enters the final day of the 2026 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on top of the team leaderboard as three event titles highlighted Friday's action in Canyon, Texas.
Kedan Burch added to the WT scoring total, claiming a bronze in the women's discus with a mark of 46.32m.
Esther Conde-Turpin registered the top DII mark in the country and the 8th best in WT history (6.37m) to win the LSC Title in the long jump.
Abigail Abugire ran the fastest time in the women's 800m prelims (2:10.13) to qualify for the finals along with
Sierra Cornell (2:12.58). A pair of Lady Buffs will run in the 400m finals on Saturday as
Blessing Akintoye ran a 53.69 along with
Sandra Appiah (54.62).
Debora Acheampong registered the sixth fastest time in WT outdoor history in the 100m (11.35) joined by
Priscilla Anaglo (11.78) in the finals.
Emiliia Tangara continued her impressive freshman campaign as the German product ran a 56.25 for the second-best mark in school history as
Asana Hamidu (58.48) also qualified for the finals.
Eliette Chaput closed out Friday's action by adding to the WT scoring total with the French product winning the 3,000m Steeplechase LSC Title with a time of 10:52.59.
Nikolas Kosmopoulos closed out a victory in the men's decathlon winning all five of the events (100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m) on Thursday followed by a win in the 100m hurdles on Friday morning before closing out the final three events with a total of 7,144 points.
Emil Meggle punched his ticket to the men's 800m finals with the top prelim time of 1:51.50 while
James Dadzie registered the fastest prelim mark in the 100m (10.09) to advance to the finals along with
Isaac Botsio (10.10),
Kareem Small (10.34) and
Jace Lynch (10.45).
