CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M baseball dropped a pair of Lone Star Conference contests on Saturday afternoon to the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville at Nolan Ryan Field in Kingsville, Texas.

The Buffs and Javelinas close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon with first pitch of the finale set for Noon.

Game 1 – Texas A&M-Kingsville 5, West Texas A&M 1
The Buffs got on the board in the top of the first inning with a
Jake Alwine RBI double to the gap in left center to score
Jonluke Hobdy for the 1-0 lead. TAMUK responded in the bottom of the frame on a Cash Benavidez two-run long ball to left at 2-1.

Javier Benavidez extended the Javelina lead in the home half of the fourth inning with a two-run triple down the right field line followed by a Jake Gann single thru the right side for the 5-1 advantage.

Cade Griffin claimed the loss (8-4) for the Buffs, allowing five earned runs on three hits with three walks and two strikeouts in his 3.1 innings of work.

Game 2 – Texas A&M-Kingsville 9, West Texas A&M 4
WT jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap, pushing across four runs in the top of the third inning.
Jacob Police singled thru the left side to score Hobdy followed by a
Zac Rackham RBI triple and a
Will Franklin ground-rule double for the 4-0 lead.

Texas A&M-Kingsville answered in the bottom of the fifth with six runs highlighted by an Easton Hewitt three-run homer to left. The Javelinas added insurance runs in the sixth inning on a WT defensive miscue that scored one followed by a Hewitt RBI base hit at 9-4.

Riley Kettner claimed the loss (7-2) on the mound, allowing three earned runs on two hits with a walk in 0.1 innings of relief.
