Brown Reaches 300 Wins as the Buffs Top Cameron, 87-67

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M got back to their winning ways on Thursday night as five different Buffs reached double-figures in a 87-67 Lone Star Conference road victory over the Cameron Aggies in Lawton, Oklahoma. The victory marked the 300thcareer win for WT head coach Tom Brown.

WT started strong, utilizing a fast-paced offense to establish a 10–3 lead early in the half, with Jailyn Sledge and James Parlow Jr. contributing key baskets. Parlow continued to be a standout performer, adding a dunk and a three-pointer, while Brock Mishak facilitated the offense with crucial assists. The Buffs dominated the paint with 18 points and capitalized on fast breaks with 8 points.

As the half progressed, WT extended the lead to 23–9 with contributions from Fontaine Williams and Zach Brown, who each converted opportunities at the free-throw line. Despite Cameron's attempts to close the gap with several three-pointers, the Buffs maintained control, finishing the half with a solid defensive stand and a 42–32 advantage.

The Buffs opened the second half with a surge, forcing a turnover and capitalizing with a layup by Mishak, followed by Williams' defensive rebound and subsequent layup. This early momentum was bolstered by a three-point shot from Mishak, assisted by Williams, extending the lead to 49–32. Cameron responded with a brief scoring effort, but WT maintained their edge through effective shooting from beyond the arc, with Parlow and Brown each adding three-pointers.

The Buffs continued to exert control throughout the half, with a strong defensive showing highlighted by Williams, who contributed both on the boards and with timely scoring. As the half progressed, the Buffs effectively countered Cameron's attempts to close the gap, with additional scoring from Mishak, Williams, and Brown. Brendan Ballard's late layup sealed the half, which concluded with the Buffs leading 87–67.

Williams led the team with 22 points, converting 9 of 10 free throws. Brown added 18 points and collected seven rebounds. Mishak recorded 13 points and six assists, contributing two steals defensively. Parlow scored 15 points, making 6 of 7 field goal attempts.
