Buffs Clinch the LSC Series with a Pair of Saturday Comebacks

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes clinched their Lone Star Conference series with the Cameron Aggies on Saturday afternoon with a pair of comeback victories on doubleheader day at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.
 
The Buffs and Aggies close out the weekend series on Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
 
Game 1 – West Texas A&M 5, Cameron 4
Cameron jumped to an early lead in the first inning with three runs. Roos doubled down the left field line, followed by Villarreal's single, and Harrell's sacrifice fly brought in the first run. Yardley then homered to left center, adding two more runs. Cameron led 3-0 after one inning.
 
In the third inning, Cameron extended its lead to 4-0. Harrell and Yardley both singled, and a groundout by Titsworth allowed Harrell to score.
 
West Texas A&M responded in the fifth inning. Jake Alwine walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brock Bunker, and Tristan Menchaca walked to set the stage. Jonluke Hobdy then homered to right field, driving in three runs to bring the score to 4-3 in favor of Cameron.
 
In the sixth inning, West Texas A&M took the lead. Daniel Castellanos singled, with Zac Rackham pinch-running. Luis Reyes doubled to right center, bringing Rackham home to tie the game. Following a pitching change, Hella pinch-ran for Reyes and advanced to third on Alwine's single. Will Franklin's sacrifice fly allowed Hella to score, giving the Buffs a 5-4 lead.
 
Riley Kettner claimed the win (1-1) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on just three hits with no walks and three strikeouts in the final two frames.
 
Game 2 – West Texas A&M 10, Cameron 8
The third inning saw the Buffs take a commanding lead, scoring six runs. Zac Rackham led off with a single, and after a series of plays, including a fielding error and multiple walks, Rackham scored the team's first run. Further walks and a two-RBI single by Rackham extended the lead to 6-1 by the end of the third inning.
 
In the fourth inning, Jake Alwine hit a solo home run to right field, adding to the tally for the Buffs, bringing the score to 7-1. Cameron made a strong comeback in the fifth inning, scoring five runs. A double from Villarreal and a three-RBI triple by Solomon brought them within one run, making it 7-6 in favor of the Buffs.
 
Cameron took the lead in the top of the sixth on a Cunningham two-run homer for the 8-7 advantage. The Buffs responded in the home half with three more runs. Jonluke Hobdy scored on an RBI single by Timothy Haynes, and a two-RBI double from Daniel Castellanos pushed the score to 10-8.
 
Kettner picked up his second win (3-1) of the day, allowing no runs on no hits with a pair of strikeouts over the final 1.1 frames.
