ANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track & Field registered 14 NCAA provisional marks including a pair of school records during their final tune-up for the LSC Indoor Championships as the Buffs and Lady Buffs competed at the Jarvis Scott Open and the BU David Hemery Valentines Invitational.

WT returns to the track on February 27-28 at the 2026 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Jarvis Scott Open
James Dadzie began Friday's action in Lubbock with a time of 6.69 in the prelims of the men's 60m dash followed by a 6.62 in the semis to punch his ticket to the finals, the semifinal time of 6.62 tied for 8
th on WT's Top-10 list.

Blessing Akintoye continued her impressive indoor campaign as the junior set a new school record in the women's 400m with a mark of 53.01 on her birthday to win the event. Akintoye would smash her second school record of the weekend on Saturday afternoon with a time of 23.70 in the 200m to finish 6
th overall.

Deborah Acheampong tallied a personal best mark of 23.95 in the 200m to tie the 8
th fastest time in program history, finishing 10
th in the event.
Oyeyoni Oyewale-Johnson tied the 10
th best mark in WT history in the triple jump (15.31) on his opening attempt to finish 4
th overall.

BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational
The Buffs started things off in Boston on Friday as
Emil Meggle registered the 2
nd fastest indoor 800m mark in school history (1:49.09) to finish 25
th overall in the invitational section. The 5,000m field featured five Buffs led by
Adrian Legarreta's 55
th place finish (13:58.98) for the 8
th best time in school history.
Tobias Ritter finished 87
th (14:07.88) followed by
Branch Cox in 105
th(14:14.25),
Tommaso Toppi in 155
th (14:36.18) and
Fintan Kavanagh in 177
th (14:53.61).Â

Abigail Abugire picked up a 21
st place finish in the 800m invitational section as the sophomore ran a time of 2:06.47 for the 2
ndfastest time in school history. The 3,000m included a pair of Lady Buffs as
Kalkidan Vincendeau finished 39
th (9:23.54) followed by
Sarah Koomson in 43
rd (9:25.14) out of 207 runners in the field. Vincendeau's time was good enough for 6
th on the all-time Lady Buff Top-10 followed by Koomson's mark in 7
th.

The women's 5K closed out the meet in Boston as
Naomi Addo finished 72
nd overall with a time of 16:41.14 followed by
Julie Lafare in 105
th (16:59.62) and
Lexi Maul in 141
