Buffs Force 26 Turnovers in a 75-63 Win Over the Comets

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes played lock down defense on Thursday night as they forced 26 turnovers in a 75-63 Lone Star Conference victory over the UT Dallas Comets at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
 
WT opened the first half by establishing a strong defensive presence, forcing 17 turnovers from the Comets. This defensive effort was complemented by effective scoring in transition, as the home team notched 9 fastbreak points. Mishak led the scoring with crucial 3-pointers, while Williams contributed significantly with points in the paint.
 
Midway through the half, the Buffs capitalized on back-to-back 3-pointers by TJ Brown and Mishak, extending their lead. The team maintained control despite the visitors' attempts to close the gap, highlighted by solid free-throw shooting. The half closed with WT leading 38-30.
 
Zach Brown opened the second half with a three-pointer for the Buffs, building on a nine-point lead. The home team capitalized on turnovers, with Mishak and Sledge each contributing steals. Williams and Parlow successfully scored, extending WT's advantage to 45–32 early in the half.
 
The Buffs maintained momentum with effective defensive plays, including a block by Parlow and a steal by Williams. Brown added to the scoring with a three-pointer, while the team effectively converted free throws, pushing the lead to 70–58 with just over four minutes remaining.
 
In the closing minutes, WT continued to pressure the Comets, with Brown securing another three-pointer. Despite a late three-pointer from UTD Will Warren, the Buffs held a steady lead as the game ended with West Texas A&M winning 75-63.
 
Mishak led the Buffs with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, and recorded four steals. Williams contributed 19 points, making six of six free throws. Brown added 15 points and collected four rebounds. Sledge posted two blocks and four steals, while also grabbing five rebounds.
 
The Buffs hit the road for the final time in the regular season as they travel to South Texas next Thursday to take on the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
