Last Time Out
West Texas A&M continued LSC play this past week with games against Oklahoma Christian and UT Dallas while also resuming the suspended game against No. 13 Fort Hays State.
Buffs Shutout in First Conference Loss Against Oklahoma Christian- September 30, 2026
Through the first four minutes of the match, each team produced one shot which went high. The 10th minute would see the game go into a lightning delay as a storm passed through Edmond. Three hours later, the game would resume in which Oklahoma Christian came out hot. They would generate two corner kicks in the first two minutes of resumed action before scoring in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead. 20 seconds later,
Octavio Estrada-Vazquez would look to respond but his shot on goal would be saved. Three minutes later, OCU would have another corner kick and then score in the 17th minute as they doubled their lead. WT would not register a second shot until the 43rd minute where
Myles Taylor hit the crossbar. West Texas A&M would go into the break trailing 2-0.
The second half would see similar results as the Buffs would be limited in offensive production. Their first shot came in the 75th minute by Taylor which also went off the crossbar. Defensively, WT settled in and held the Eagles to three shots with none landing on goal to stay within striking distance. The offense was unable to find any footing as the score would finalize at 2-0 in favor of Oklahoma Christian.
Top Buffs
- Myles Taylor tallied two shots in 40 minutes of action. This was his third game with 2+ shots this season.
- Octavio Estrada-Vazquez landed his lone shot on goal during his 72 minutes of play.
- Felix Casas fired one shot in 62 minutes.
Davis Sinks PK with 22 Seconds Left as Buffs Battle Back to Tie UT Dallas 1-1- October 3, 2026
The early stages of the game saw WT's offense create scoring chances. In the third minute, the Buffs created a breakaway chance on a counterattack that nearly got them on the board with
Delahmu Reeves leading the charge. Just outside the box, Reeves was tripped up and lost control, but a foul was called on him to negate the opportunity. With a close free kick in the 15th minute, WT set up a nice piece to quickly get the ball in as
Ben Scotford dished it to
D'Jonte Davis near the top of the box. His shot would sail high. Through 15 minutes, West Texas A&M tallied four shots (one on goal) and a corner kick but could not strike first despite their offensive pressure. In the 25th minute, UT Dallas found the first goal as they headed in a ball off a direct pass from a free kick to take a 1-0 lead.
Luke Southerington made a two key saves in the 32nd and 33rd minute to make sure the game remained a one goal deficit for WT. Right before half,
Myles Taylor added another chance for the Buffs, but his shot would miss left on a breakaway. The halftime score would settle in at 1-0 in favor of the Comets in what was a physical half.
Out of the break, West Texas A&M had an early chance as
Joseluis Diaz would have a shot saved in the 49th minute. The physicality of the game continued to be on full display with 14 fouls in the second half and 27 in the game. UTD held control of possession to start the second half as WT hunted the equalizing goal. The game would change in the 70th minute as the Buffs were assessed a red card and went down a man for the final 20 minutes. The defense of West Texas A&M would rise to occasion despite the double deficit in score and man as they held the Comets to only three shots the rest of the way. The Buffs stayed composed and continued to fight as the hunt stayed on. In the final minutes of the game, Taylor had another shot that just missed in the 87th minute, but WT had momentum and possession on their attacking half. On a throw-in with 30 seconds left, a scramble would occur in the box that saw Southerington fire a shot that would be saved. In that scrum of Comets and Buffaloes, multiple Buffs would be dragged down to the ground as UTD cleared the ball. That play would be reviewed and ultimately led to a penalty kick for WT with 22 seconds to go. Stepping up to the moment would be
D'Jonte Davis. As the referee blew the whistle for play, Davis initially went choppy steps before slow stepping into his kick. Firing a shot into the bottom right corner, the Prosper, Texas native completed the hunt with the equalizer as West Texas A&M secured a conference point with a 1-1 tie against UT Dallas.
Top Buffs
- D'Jonte Davis scored his second goal on the season in his 51 minutes of play. He totaled two shots with one landing on goal. Davis is up to six points which is tied for the team-high. Five of those points have come in the past three games.
- Luke Southerington started in goal and made a season-high four saves as he played the whole game. He also added one shot which landed on goal.

Buffaloes Defense Shuts Down No. 13 Fort Hays State in Dodge City for 1-0 Upset Win- October 5, 2026
With the first half and change being played in Canyon, Texas on September 10, the Buffaloes defense would be tested early as the Tigers generated two shots (one on goal) and three corner kicks.
Bryce Cottle came away with a save in the fifth minute as the defense shutdown the initial wave. Offensively, WT kept pace with FHSU during that span with
Renson Jr. Sayers and
D'Jonte Davis each firing a shot, but they would both be saved. The game would change for the Buffs in the 27th minute as WT was assessed a red card off of a corner kick as they were now down a man. Despite the deficit, WT kept the game knotted at 0-0 and were still able to apply pressure with two shots and a corner kick. West Texas A&M would close the half with a strong defensive showing following the red card as the Tigers were limited to only one shot the rest of the half as the game was tied 0-0 into the break. Less than 10 minutes came off the clock in the second half before the game went into a lightning delay. After multiple resets of the delay, the game would ultimately be suspended in the 51st minute.
Less than a month later, the game would resume, this time in Dodge City, Kansas on October 5. West Texas A&M had their backs against the wall early as Fort Hays State pressed and had firm control with the extra man. The defense stood tall with Cottle picking off some crossing chances by the Tigers and blocking a few shots. Offensively, the Buffaloes created a few opportunities to keep FHSU on their heels, but nothing came to fruition. The Tigers continued to fire shots, but Cottle shut them down every time with key saves in the 81st and 85th minute. Following a frenzy in the midfield,
Oumar Berete came away with the ball and booted it up to a streaking Davis who ran past the center back to take the ball. From 20 yards out, the Prosper, Texas native had a one-on-one chance with the keeper and kept pushing forward until he was right in front of the net. Davis went low with his shot and nutmegged the keeper for the go-ahead goal. With time ticking away, the defense would shut down the potent Tigers offense over the final minutes to come out victorious. West Texas A&M secured the 1-0 win and for the second straight game, produced a result despite a man down with a red card.
