Buffs Shutout in First Conference Loss Against Oklahoma Christian

WT defeated 2-0

Edmond, Oklahoma – West Texas A&M Men's Soccer (3-6-1, 1-1-1 LSC) were defeated for the first time in conference play Wednesday evening as they fell 2-0 to Oklahoma Christian. WT would land only one shot on goal in the match.  
 
Through the first four minutes of the match, each team produced one shot which went high. The 10th minute would see the game go into a lightning delay as a storm passed through Edmond. Three hours later, the game would resume in which Oklahoma Christian came out hot. They would generate two corner kicks in the first two minutes of resumed action before scoring in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead. 20 seconds later, Octavio Estrada-Vazquez would look to respond but his shot on goal would be saved. Three minutes later, OCU would have another corner kick and then score in the 17th minute as they doubled their lead. WT would not register a second shot until the 43rd minute where Myles Taylor hit the crossbar. West Texas A&M would go into the break trailing 2-0.
 
The second half would see similar results as the Buffs would be limited in offensive production. Their first shot came in the 75th minute by Taylor which also went off the crossbar. Defensively, WT settled in and held the Eagles to three shots with none landing on goal to stay within striking distance. The offense was unable to find any footing as the score would finalize at 2-0 in favor of Oklahoma Christian.

  • Octavio Estrada-Vazquez landed his lone shot on goal during his 72 minutes of play.
