CANYON, Texas – The #14 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M got back to their winning ways on Sunday afternoon with an 86-79 victory over the Sul Ross State Lobos at the Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas.

West Texas A&M opened the first half by establishing a strong presence inside, scoring 14 points in the paint and adding 26 points from the bench. Despite an early exchange of leads and ties, the Buffs managed to keep momentum on their side with key plays, including a pair of three-pointers and effective free-throw shooting, converting 9 of 12 attempts.

Kemper Jones was instrumental, hitting crucial shots in the closing minutes, including back-to-back three-pointers that widened their lead. The Buffs closed the half by holding a narrow lead, 38-36, entering the break.

WT began the second half with a swift layup from
Fontaine Williams, taking an early advantage. The team continued to build momentum with a series of successful 3-pointers, including shots from
Zach Brown and Williams, extending the lead. Throughout the half, the Buffs displayed effective rebounding and defensive play, with
Brock Mishak and
Jailyn Sledge contributing key stops.

Midway through the half, the Buffs capitalized on free throws and maintained their scoring pace. Mishak's consistent performance under the basket further increased their edge. Sul Ross St. responded with some scoring drives of their own, but the Buffs' robust defensive rebounding limited their opportunities. The half closed with the Buffs holding a lead of 86–79, owing to strong shooting and strategic play execution.

Fontaine Williams scored 23 points, including four 3-pointers, and made seven free throws. Jones matched with 23 points, sinking five 3-pointers and completing a double-double with 10 rebounds. Mishak added 17 points and recorded nine rebounds, contributing four assists in the process.
Camden Cowgill dished out five assists to support the team's offensive efforts.
