#8 Lady Buffs Sweep Past CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado

CANYON, Texas – The #8 Lady Buffs put on a show in front of their home crowd on Friday as WT swept past CSU Pueblo (25-16, 25-19, 25-18) and Western Colorado (25-12, 25-9, 25-11) during the opening day of the 2025 BritKare Lady Buff Classic.
 
The Lady Buffs finish out opening weekend with a pair of matches tomorrow at The Box against CSU Pueblo (11 a.m.) and Oklahoma Baptist (6 p.m.)
 
Match 1 – CSU Pueblo
Currie Marusak led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Amarillo High product finished with a game-high 15 kills on 33 swings to hit .333 along with an assist and four digs, Emma Becker added 13 kills and 12 digs for a double-double. Bromli Watson was impressive in her first game as a Lady Buff with 29 assists, seven digs, three blocks, three kills and an ace, Kaycee Cavanaugh led the way in the back row with 16 digs.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the match hitting .289 as a team with 43 kills on 114 swings and 10 errors to go along with two aces, 61 digs, and eight blocks. CSU Pueblo hit just .110 as a team with 37 kills and 22 errors on 136 attempts to go along with one ace, 52 digs and four blocks.
 
CSUP was led by Caelyn Gunn who put away 10 kills on 40 swings with six errors to hit .100 on the afternoon along with 12 digs for a double-double. Elena Stankovic dished out a team-best 23 assists to go along with nine digs and three kills, Megan Mattingly tallied 13 digs and an ace in the back row. 
 
Hall of Famer Terry Gamble registered his first career victory in Maroon & White while the Lady Buffs continued their home dominance, winning the 555th home game since the start of the 1980 campaign.
 
Match 2 – Western Colorado
Marusak had a big night for the Lady Buffs with 12 kills on 18 swings to hit .500. Taytum Stow couldn't be stopped in the front row with seven kills and an attack percentage of .778 to go along with an ace, three blocks and a career-best seven digs. Watson paced the WT offense with 27 assists and eight digs.
 
The Lady Buffs started fast in the nightcap and never looked back as they registered 36 kills on 68 swings for an attack percentage of .382 to go along with 33 assists, three service aces, 38 digs and seven blocks. WCU struggled in the rowdy atmosphere at The Box as they registered a -0.103 attack percentage with 26 kills on 87 attempts and 17 errors to go along with 16 assists, one ace, 18 digs and four blocks.
 
Olive Rolseth led the way for the Mountaineers as she finished the night with five kills on 23 swings to go along with a pair of digs, Kaira Willits dished out a team-best 11 digs while Liv McMillan led the way in the back row with five digs to go along with three kills.
