CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M cross country opens their 2025 campaign on Friday morning as they travel to Lawton, Oklahoma to compete in the Aggie Duels hosted by Cameron University at the Big Green Soccer Complex.
 
Expectations are high for the Maroon & White as both squads enter the season ranked inside of the Top-10 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason poll announced yesterday. The Lady Buffs are ranked second while the Buffs are eighth.
 
Friday's 5K women's race begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 8:25 a.m.
 
Head coach Zach Daniel and the Lady Buffs were the NCAA Division II National Runner-Up last year – the best finish in program history – and fifth at the South Central Regional Championships in Denver. The Lady Buffs have claimed four LSC crowns (2012, 2013, 2023, 2024).
 
The Buffs have won every Lone Star Conference title since 2013 as they were picked atop of the league's preseason coaches' poll. WT finished fourth in the NCAA Division II National Championships last year and third at the South Central Regional.
