Canyon, Texas. – West Texas A&M Men's Cross Country moved up to the No. 4 spot while the Women maintained their No. 8 ranking in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Poll Wednesday afternoon. This is the sixth time where both programs are ranked inside the top eight at a given point.
After strong win at the Louisville Classic, the Men moved up to No. 4 after being No. 6 in the previous poll. The top three stayed the same with Wingate, Colorado School of Mines, and Adams State holding their positions. WT jumped Grand Valley State for fourth as they went to fifth. This is the highest ranking for the Men since they were No. 3 in week six of 2024.
Within the South Central Region, West Texas A&M also moved up as they are now the third highest team in the region. No. 2 Colorado School of Mines and No. 3 Adams State remained ahead. Five other teams in the region were ranked including No. 7 Western Colorado, No. 12 Fort Lewis, No. 13 UC-Colorado Springs, No. 20 Colorado Christian, and No. 24 CSU Pueblo.
The Buffs were the only Lone Star Conference (LSC) team ranked.
For the fourth consecutive poll, the Lady Buffs stuck in the No. 8 spot after they captured a dominant win at the Louisville Classic The top eight remained the same teams from the previous poll as Adams State remained No. 1. They were followed by Wingate, Colorado School of Mines, Grand Valley State, Western Colorado, Chico State, UC-Colorado Springs, and then WT.
In the South Central Region, the Lady Buffs also remained the fifth highest team trailing No. 1 Adams State, No. 3 Colorado School of Mines, No. 5 Western Colorado, and No. 7 UC-Colorado Springs. Five other teams were ranked within the region including, No. 15 Colorado Mesa, No. 19 CSU Pueblo, No. 20 Fort Lewis, No. 23 DBU, and No. 29 Black Hills State.
The Lady Buffs and DBU were the two LSC teams ranked.
WT was one of seven teams to have both their Men's and Women's program ranked inside the top eight and were joined by Wingate, Colorado School of Mines, Adams State, Western Colorado, and Chico State.
West Texas A&M will be back in action on Friday, October 16 as they compete in the Old Glory Gallop in Dallas, Texas.
