CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M baseball picked up six All-Lone Star Conference honors announced on Wednesday night at the league's annual awards banquet in San Angelo, Texas.
Matt Milner was recognized for his efforts in the classroom as the Duke, Oklahoma product was named to the LSC All-Academic Team. The senior right-hander majors in Agriculture at WT as he went 4-1 on the season with a 4.69 ERA, leading the Buffs with 69 strikeouts in his 55.2 innings of work.
Fellow senior
Josh Zapata earned All-Defensive Team honors as the Buda, Texas product registered a perfect fielding percentage with 59 putouts on 61 chances along with a pair of assists. Zapata hit .331 during his 44 games with nine doubles, two triples and three homeruns to drive in 30 RBI while also stealing 10 bases.
Ryan Camacho started all 52 games in left field for the Buffaloes as the senior from Stevenson Ranch, California was named to the All-LSC Third Team. Camacho hit .359 on the year with 12 doubles, three triples and two long balls to drive in 32 RBI while also scoring a team-best 65 runs, stealing 10 bases on 11 attempts.
Kory Schmidt claimed All-LSC Second Team accolades as the Liberty Hil native hit .374 during his 46 contests with 17 doubles, two triples and nine homeruns to drive in 59 RBI with a slugging percentage of .655. The senior split time between designated hitter, first base and behind the plate as he registered 18 multi-hit performances while driving in at least two runs on a team-best 16 occasions.
Kyle Micklus joined Schmidt on the All-LSC Second Team as the senior from Waller, Texas hit .374 with 14 doubles, two triples and a team-best 15 homeruns to drive in 52 RBI for a slugging percentage of .743 as he hit for the cycle on February 23
rd. Micklus proved himself as one of the best catchers in Division II Baseball, registering a fielding percentage of .990 with 270 putouts and 23 assists on 296 chances.
Dylan Fesperman claimed First Team All-LSC honors for the second straight season as the senior led the Buffs with a .382 batting average as he registered 13 doubles, five triples and 12 homeruns to drive in a team-best 62 RBI for a slugging percentage of .699. The Phoenix product tied an NCAA DII Record with 13 RBI back on February 28
th while hitting for the cycle on March 16
th.
