WT Softball Earns No. 1 Seed, Hosts LSC Tournament

RICHARDSON, Texas – For the second straight season, the West Texas A&M softball team earned the No. 1 seed and right to host the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The Lady Buffs tied with UT Tyler for the regular season crown but held the tiebreaker with the Patriots.
 
Play begins in the single-elimination tournament with four quarterfinal games on Thursday. The day opens with No. 3 Angelo State vs. No. 6 Eastern New Mexico at 11 a.m. followed by No. 2 UT Tyler vs. No. 7 Cameron at 1:30 p.m. The second set of quarterfinal games features No. 4 Oklahoma Christian vs. No. 5 Lubbock Christian at 5 p.m. and closes with No. 1 WT meeting No. 8 St. Edward's at 7:30 p.m.
 
Two semifinal games are scheduled for Friday afternoon with the No. 3/6 winner vs. No. 2/7 winner at 2 p.m. and the No. 4/5 winner vs. No. 1/8 winner at 5 p.m. The two semifinal winners meet in the LSC Tournament championship game scheduled Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
The winner of the tournament will be named the LSC Softball Tournament champion and earn the league's automatic qualification to the 2025 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. The selection show for the national tournament is May 5 at 9 a.m. CT on NCAA.com. The national tournament begins with the South Central Regional held May 8-10 at sites to be determined. Super Regionals are May 15-16 and the finals May 22-28 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
