CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M claimed a Lone Star Conference series win on Saturday afternoon with a pair of victories in Edmond, Oklahoma over the Oklahoma Christian Eagles at Dobson Field.

The teams close out the weekend series tomorrow afternoon with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. in Edmond.

GAME ONE
The Buffs took advantage of an errant throw by the Eagles with two outs in the first inning as
Ryan Camacho scored from third base for the 1-0 lead. OC responded with the long ball in the bottom of the frame as Trey Migl lifted a solo shot to left field with one out to make it 1-1.

The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the third inning on an Elijah Laus RBI groundout to second that plated Justin Spencer for the 2-1 lead. The Buffs responded in the top of the fifth as the first Buffalo hit of the afternoon was a
Kory Schmidt single to right along with an error that scored
Kyle Micklus, Camacho would score from third on a wild pitch after a pitching change for the 3-2 lead.

Max Lankford claimed the win (4-0) for the Buffs, allowing two earned runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts in his 5.0 innings of work.
Tai Phetluangsy picked up his fifth save of the year, allowing no runs on no hits with a strikeout in the final two frames.

GAME TWO
The Buffs started off the scoring in the top of the first inning as Schmidt double to center field with one out to plate Camacho for the 1-0 lead. OC answered in the bottom of the frame on a Reed Thomas two-run single thru the right side for the 2-1 lead.

WT answered in the top of the second inning as
Josh Zapata lifted a solo shot over the wall in left center followed later in the frame by back-to-back long balls by
Tristin Thomas and
Glenn Noronha for the 4-2 lead.Â

The Eagles tied up the game in the home half of the third inning on a Spencer two-run single thru the right side to make it 4-4. The Buffs retook the lead in the top of the fourth inning on a Schmidt RBI groundout to third that plated Thomas for the 5-4 lead.

The Buffs added insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning on a Camacho two-run double to left center with one out, Camacho would score from third on a passed ball later in the frame for the 8-4 lead. The Eagles wouldn't go down without a fight as Migl connected on a two-run homerun to left field in the sixth to make it 8-6.

Julius Carpio picked up the win (3-0) for the Buffs, allowing two earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts in his 1.2 innings of relief while Phetluangsy claimed his second save of the day, allowing no runs on two hits with three strikeouts in the final two frames.
