CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M senior
Dylan Fesperman became the second Buff to hit for the cycle this season as WT completed the Lone Star Conference weekend sweep of the Sul Ross State Lobos at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.

The Buffs hit the road next weekend for a four-game Lone Star Conference series with the Oklahoma Christian Eagles starting on Friday evening at Dobson Field in Edmond.

GAME ONE
The Buffs got on the scoreboard in the home half of the third inning as
Rodric Black grounded out to second base with one out to plate
Josh Zapata for the 1-0 lead.Â
Â
WT added to their advantage in the fifth as Black singled thru the left side to score
Elijah Batista followed by a
Jovan Camacho RBI groundout as Zapata would cross the plate,
Kyle Micklus kept the inning alive with two outs as he lifted a two-run homerun to right field for the 5-0 lead.Â

The Lobos would spoil the shutout bid in the top of the seventh inning on a Brock Rogers sac fly to center field with one out to make it 5-1.

Max Lankford was dominant on the mound (3-0) as the senior allowed one earned run on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in his complete game effort.

GAME TWO
Sul Ross jumped out to an early lead in the top of the opening frame on a Renee Ramos RBI single to center field with two outs to plate Alfonso Lopez for the 1-0 lead. The Buffs would answer in the bottom of the second inning on a Fesperman RBI double down the left field line to score
Kory Schmidt followed by a Batista RBI single to center for the 2-1 lead.

The Buffs added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning as Fesperman singled to left field to drive in
Ryan Camacho and Schmidt followed later in the frame by a Batista RBI groundout to shortstop and a Zapata two-run blast to left center for the 7-1 lead.

The Lobos used the long ball to cut into the WT lead in the top of the fourth inning as Corbin Montayne lifted a two-run shot to right field to make it 7-3. The Buffs answered again in the home half as R. Camacho scored from third on a passed ball followed by a
Seth Ochoa sac fly to left that scored Fesperman for the 9-3 lead.

WT extended their lead again in the bottom of the fifth as Schmidt drove in J. Camacho with an RBI single to right followed by a Fesperman three-run bomb to right center as the senior became the second Buff this season to hit for the cycle for the 13-3 lead.

The Buffs would continue to roll at the plate in the home half of the sixth as J. Camacho tripled home
Jake Alwine followed by a R. Camacho RBI single and a Schmidt sac fly before Fesperman connected on his second long ball, a two-run shot to left center for the 18-3 lead.

Davis Luikart claimed the win (2-0) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on no hits with no walks and three strikeouts in his 1.2 innings of relief.
