CANYON, Texas – The #15 Lady Buffs continue Lone Star Conference action this weekend as they host St. Edward's and St. Mary's at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. Friday night's matchup against SEU is set for 6:00 p.m. followed by a Saturday first serve of 2:00 p.m. against the Rattlers on Senior Day.
ST. EDWARD'S
St. Edward's enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-10 with a 5-8 mark in LSC play to sit tied for 11th in the league standings. The Hilltoppers dropped a four-set match at Oklahoma Christian last Friday before rebounding with a sweep at Cameron on Saturday afternoon.
Jeremy Garcia is in his first season at the helm of the St. Edward's volleyball program. Garcia spent the previous four seasons as an assistant at Duke. Before Duke, Garcia was a volunteer assistant at Penn State and a graduate assistant at Texas.
Kelli Fording leads the way offensively for the Hilltoppers as the junior outside from San Antonio, Texas has tallied 231 kills on 641 swings with 110 errors to hit .189 on the season with three assists, 32 service aces, 62 digs and 19 total blocks.
A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Friday night is the 21st all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Hilltoppers as WT holds a 19-1 advantage in the series that dates back to 1981. West Texas A&M has won 14 straight matches against St. Edward's with the last SEU win coming on September 18, 2004 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Hilltoppers are 0-6 all-time at The Box.
ST. MARY'S
The Rattlers enter the weekend with an overall record of 12-11 with a 9-4 mark in Lone Star Conference action as they sit tied for fourth in the league standings. StMU is riding a five-match win streak into Friday night's matchup at Eastern New Mexico. The Rattlers topped Cameron and Oklahoma Christian last weekend on the road.
Cali Nims took over as the interim head coach for the Rattlers on September 24, 2025. Nims was a two-time Lone Star All-Conference selection for the Rattlers, earning LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll all eight semesters of her career. As a senior in 2024, Nims ranked third in the LSC and 19th nationally with 10.64 assists per set. She collected 16 double-doubles in her final year and broke the St. Mary's single-season rally scoring record with her 10.64 assists per set.
Landri Withers leads the way offensively for the Rattlers as the senior outside from Stephenville has registered 297 kills on 916 swings with 101 errors for an attack percentage of .214 to go along with 27 assists, 33 aces, 286 digs and 35 total blocks for 348.5 points to average 3.75 per set. Withers ranks fourth in the LSC in kills (297) and seventh in service aces (33).

Saturday afternoon will be the 29th all-time meeting between the Rattlers and Lady Buffs as WT is 26-2 in the series that dates back to 1999. West Texas A&M has won 20 consecutive meetings with the last Rattler win coming on November 3, 2004 in San Antonio. StMU is 0-15 all-time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse.

West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 22 Lone Star Conference Championships, 16 Regional Titles and four NCAA Division II National Championships.
The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 567-85 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.7%. This season has seen the Lady Buffs go a perfect 13-0 inside of The Box with a 7-0 mark during LSC action in Canyon. The Lady Buffs have registered 14-unbeaten seasons at WTAMU Fieldhouse with the last coming in 2023 (18-0).
LSC PRESEASON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Senior middle blocker
Taytum Stow was named the 2025 Lone Star Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year announced on Monday, August 25th. The Hereford product ed the league with 138 blocks (1.27 per set) on her way to a second LSC Defensive Player of the Year Award (also 2022). Stow was also third in the LSC with a .364 hitting percentage and earned honorable mention All-American status.
THE GAMBLE ERA
Three-time National Champion and NJCAA Hall of Famer
Terry Gamble was named the 17th head coach in Lady Buff Volleyball history on February 4, 2025. Gamble has compiled a record of 1,107-349 (.759) as he was just the third head coach in NJCAA history to reach 1,000 career wins on October 15, 2024.
Gamble came to Canyon following seven seasons at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Gamble was named the Regional Coach of the Year for the third time, leading Blinn College to their fifth straight NJCAA National Tournament. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA volleyball championships (2000, 2004, 2006) and three NJCAA Coach of the Year awards.
LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs sit 15th in the newest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the 326th time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times including twice during the 2023 campaign.
