Hot Shooting West Texas A&M Tops the Skyhawks, 105-84

CANYON, Texas – The #13 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to six games on Saturday afternoon as they rolled past the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls, 84-57 to conclude the WT Thanksgiving Classic at the First United Bank Center.
 
WT began the game by overcoming an early deficit through a series of strategic 3-pointers and defensive stops. Brock Mishak ignited the offense with a 3-pointer assisted by James Parlow Jr., tying the score at 5-5. From there, the Buffs went on a scoring spree, highlighted by Brendan Ballard's block and subsequent 3-pointer, to gain a 16–14 lead midway through the half.
 
The home team continued to capitalize on Fort Lewis turnovers, expanding their lead with contributions from Zach Brown and Fontaine Williams. The Buffs closed the half strong with Jailyn Sledge's 3-pointer, securing a substantial 56–36 advantage at the end of the first half.
 
The Buffs capitalized on technical fouls by Fort Lewis early in the second half, with Fontaine Williams hitting four consecutive free throws at 19:34 to extend the lead. Williams continued to be a key figure, executing a layup at 17:05 and a 3-pointer at 16:36, supported by assists from Brendan Ballard and Brock Mishak, respectively. The Buffs maintained the advantage with strong performances from the bench, contributing 19 points, and a solid defensive presence, leading 105–84 at the end of the game.
 
Fontaine Williams led the team with 29 points, converting all 11 of his free throw attempts and making four 3-pointers. Mishak added nine points and dished out five assists, contributing three 3-pointers. Kemper Jones recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Parlow Jr. scored nine points and collected two steals, while Sledge contributed with 13 points and two steals.
 
The Buffs begin Lone Star Conference play on Thursday night as they host the Oklahoma Christian Eagles with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. in Canyon.
