CANYON, Texas – The #17 Lady Buffs open up postseason action on Thursday morning as they battle the sixth-seeded Texas Woman's Pioneers during the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals with first serve set for 11:00 a.m. at the Junell Center in San Angelo. Texas.
TEXAS WOMAN'S
The Pioneers enter the LSC Championships as the sixth seed, finishing the season 18-10 overall with a 11-6 mark in league action. TWU looks to snap a two-match losing skid as they fell on the road at UT Tyler (3-2) and UT Dallas (3-2) during the final weekend of the regular season.
TWU is making the program's 25th appearances in the Lone Star Conference Championships, competing in the last three events. The Pioneers are 15-24 (.385) all-time in the tournament with three appearances in the title match (1992, 1997, 2017).
Tori Woods leads the way offensively for the Pioneers as the senior from Brookston, Indiana has registered 287 kills on 866 swings with 90 errors for an attack percentage of .227 to go along with 17 assists, 13 aces, 254 digs and 29 total blocks.
Alyssa Rojo registered a team-best 582 digs in the back row for the Pioneers as the junior libero from Lewisville has averaged 5.60 digs per set this season. Kiana Reed paces the TWU offense with 648 assists (6.23/set) to go along with 23 service aces and 275 digs.
TWU HEAD COACH JESSICA RANSOM
Jessica Ransom is in her third season at the head coach of the TWU volleyball program, leading the Pioneers to three straight LSC Tournament trips as well as the NCAA Postseason in 2024. Ransom spent the previous six seasons leading the Texas Wesleyan Rams. Texas Wesleyan qualified for the NAIA Tournament in six straight seasons as Ransom was named the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Thursday will be the 63rd meeting on the court between the Lady Buffs and Pioneers as WT is 54-8 in a series that dates back to 1980. Thursday afternoon will be the seventh meeting between the two teams in the LSC Championships as the Lady Buffs are 6-0, it is also the second meeting between the two in San Angelo as WT claimed a straight-set victory back on October 5, 2022.
LADY BUFFS IN THE LSC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lady Buffs are making the program's 31st overall and 21st consecutive appearance in the Lone Star Conference Championship, WT is an incredible 58-12 (.829) in the event. West Texas A&M has advanced to the title match on 20 occasions with a mark of 18-2 in those contests.

The Lady Buffs make their way to San Angelo for the Lone Star Conference Championships, West Texas A&M is 40-17 all-time in the Concho Valley.

THE GAMBLE ERA
Three-time National Champion and NJCAA Hall of Famer
Terry Gamble was named the 17th head coach in Lady Buff Volleyball history on February 4, 2025. Gamble has compiled a record of 1,107-349 (.759) as he was just the third head coach in NJCAA history to reach 1,000 career wins on October 15, 2024.
Gamble came to Canyon following seven seasons at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Gamble was named the Regional Coach of the Year for the third time, leading Blinn College to their fifth straight NJCAA National Tournament. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA volleyball championships (2000, 2004, 2006) and three NJCAA Coach of the Year awards.
LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs sit 17th in the newest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the 328th time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times including twice during the 2023 campaign.

The eight-team field has been announced for the 2025 Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship, which will be held Thursday-Saturday (Nov. 20-22) at Junell Center-Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas. Punching its tickets are Angelo State, Lubbock Christian, West Texas A&M, St. Mary's, UT Tyler, Texas Woman's, Oklahoma Christian and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Thursday's quarterfinals will feature WT vs. TWU at 11 a.m., LCU vs. OC at 1:30 p.m., StMU vs. UTT at 4 p.m. and ASU vs. TAMUK at 6:30 p.m.
