CANYON, Texas – The #13 Lady Buffs conclude the regular season this weekend as they hit the road for Lone Star Conference action. WT takes on Cameron on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Lawton followed by a matchup at Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.

CAMERON
Cameron enters the final weekend of the season with an overall record of 7-21 with a 3-12 mark in LSC action. The Aggies look to snap a five-match losing skid as they fell on the road last weekend at Texas Woman's (3-1) and at Dallas Baptist (3-0).

Melissa Avila is in her first season at the helm of the Cameron volleyball program after coming to Lawton following six seasons as the head coach at Western Texas College. Avila began her playing career at Gavilan Community College followed by time at Dickinson State.

Anastasija Andelic leads the way offensively for the Aggies as the sophomore outside from Montenegro has registered 187 kills on 665 swings with 73 errors for an attack percentage of .171 to go along with 19 assists, 34 aces, 367 digs and 32.0 total blocks for 239.0 points this season.

A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Friday afternoon will mark the 60th all-time meeting on the court between the Lady Buffs and Aggies, WT leads the series 56-3 as they have claimed the last 10 meetings in a series that dates back to 1988.

OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
The Eagles enter the weekend with an overall record of 17-9 with a 9-6 mark in Lone Star Conference action to sit eighth in the league standings. Oklahoma Christian fell on the road at Texas Woman's last Friday before rebounding with a four-set win over DBU on Saturday. OC hosts Eastern New Mexico in Edmond on Friday night.

Asa Freeman is now in his second full-time season at the helm of the Oklahoma Christian volleyball program after serving as OC's interim head coach for the final 18 matches of the 2023 campaign. Freeman holds an overall record of 45-30 during his time in Edmond. Freeman also serves as the Vice President of the Kaizen Volleyball Club, leading the team to a National Championship in 2017.

Annie Davis leads the way offensively for the Eagles as the senior outside from Edmond, Oklahoma has registered 272 kills on 707 swings with 122 errors for an attack percentage of .212 to go along with seven assists, 89 digs and 43 total blocks for 296.5 points (3.29/set).

A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the sixth all-time meeting on the court between the Lady Buffs and Oklahoma Christian with WT holding a 5-0 lead in the series that dates back to 2021. The Lady Buffs are 2-0 all-time in Edmond with trips coming in 2022 and 2024.

West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 22 Lone Star Conference Championships, 16 Regional Titles and four NCAA Division II National Championships.Â

The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 569-85 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.7%. This season has seen the Lady Buffs go a perfect 15-0 inside of The Box with a 790 mark during LSC action in Canyon. The Lady Buffs have registered 15-unbeaten seasons at WTAMU Fieldhouse.

ALL ON THE LINE THIS WEEKEND
A pair of wins this weekend would claim a share of West Texas A&M's 23rd Lone Star Conference regular season championship. Lubbock Christian holds a share of the crown as they finished their season on Wednesday night with a five-set victory over Midwestern State. Angelo State also sits tied for second in the league standings as they host Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville this weekend in San Angelo.

THE GAMBLE ERA
Three-time National Champion and NJCAA Hall of Famer
Terry Gamble was named the 17th head coach in Lady Buff Volleyball history on February 4, 2025. Gamble has compiled a record of 1,107-349 (.759) as he was just the third head coach in NJCAA history to reach 1,000 career wins on October 15, 2024.

Gamble came to Canyon following seven seasons at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Gamble was named the Regional Coach of the Year for the third time, leading Blinn College to their fifth straight NJCAA National Tournament. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA volleyball championships (2000, 2004, 2006) and three NJCAA Coach of the Year awards.

LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs sit 13th in the newest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the 327th time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times including twice during the 2023 campaign.
