CANYON, Texas – The #14 Lady Buffs continue Lone Star Conference during Homecoming weekend as they host Dallas Baptist on Friday night followed by a Saturday matchup with Texas Woman's at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box".
DALLAS BAPTIST
The Lady Patriots enter the weekend with an overall record of 6-3 including an 0-1 mark in LSC action as they look to snap a two-game losing skid. DBU fell to Texas Woman's in four sets last Saturday in Denton to open up their league schedule.
Jordan Fish is now in her fifth season at the helm of the DBU volleyball program, holding an overall record of 89-36 during her time in Dallas. The former Virginia Tech standout has led the Patriots to three NCAA Tournament appearances and the program's first ever LSC regular season title in 2023.
Friday night will serve as a homecoming for a pair of former Lady Buffs now on the DBU coaching staff as four-time All-American Torrey Miller is the lead assistant for the Lady Patriots while
Getsemani Carrasco is in her first season as a graduate assistant.
Karley Wells leads the way offensively for the Lady Patriots as the junior from Fort Worth has 183 kills on 495 swings for an attack percentage of .226 this season to go along with four assists, 13 aces, 86 digs and 18 total blocks.
A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Friday night is the 19th all-time meeting on the court between the Lady Buffs and Lady Patriots as WT holds a 17-1 advantage in the series that dates back to 2004. DBU is 0-13 all-time inside of the WTAMU Fieldhouse.
TEXAS WOMAN'S
The Pioneers enter the weekend with an overall mark of 8-5 as they are 1-1 in LSC play. TWU dropped their first conference contest to Texas A&M-Kingsville before responding with a four-set win over Dallas Baptist last weekend at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton.
Jessica Ransom is in her second season at the head coach of the TWU volleyball program, spending the previous six seasons leading the Texas Wesleyan Rams. Texas Wesleyan qualified for the NAIA Tournament in six straight seasons as Ransom was named the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Myracle Stockman leads the way offensively for the Pioneers as the senior from Fort Worth, Texas has registered 119 kills on 294 swings with 39 attack errors to hit .272 on the season to go along with five assists, 54 digs and 31 total blocks.
A LOOK AT THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon will be the 62nd meeting on the court between the Lady Buffs and Pioneers as WT is 53-8 in a series that dates back to 1980. Texas Woman's is 2-28 all-time in Canyon as they have dropped their last three trips to The Box.

West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 22 Lone Star Conference Championships, 16 Regional Titles and four NCAA Division II National Championships.
The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 560-85 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.7%.
LSC PRESEASON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Senior middle blocker
Taytum Stow was named the 2025 Lone Star Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year announced on Monday, August 25th. The Hereford product ed the league with 138 blocks (1.27 per set) on her way to a second LSC Defensive Player of the Year Award (also 2022). Stow was also third in the LSC with a .364 hitting percentage and earned honorable mention All-American status.
THE GAMBLE ERA
Three-time National Champion and NJCAA Hall of Famer
Terry Gamble was named the 17th head coach in Lady Buff Volleyball history on February 4, 2025. Gamble has compiled a record of 1,107-349 (.759) as he was just the third head coach in NJCAA history to reach 1,000 career wins on October 15, 2024.
Gamble came to Canyon following seven seasons at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Gamble was named the Regional Coach of the Year for the third time, leading Blinn College to their fifth straight NJCAA National Tournament. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA volleyball championships (2000, 2004, 2006) and three NJCAA Coach of the Year awards.

Lone Star Conference Volleyball league play began last week, and six teams are still unbeaten: No. 22 Angelo State, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and UT Tyler.
LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs sit 14th in the newest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the 321st time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times including twice during the 2023 campaign.
