Early Shooting Woes Doom West Texas A&M in San Angelo, 74-62

CANYON. Texas – The offensive struggles continued for West Texas A&M on Thursday night as they connected on just one field goal in the first half in a 74-62 Lone Star Conference divisional road loss to the Belles of Angelo State at Stephens Arena inside of the Junell Center.
 
Claire Graham and Kyla Kane led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the pair of junior guards scored 17 points each followed by Randi Harding with nine and Rosemary Odebunmi with seven. Graham grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go along with one assist while Taytum Bell blocked a pair of shots to go along with six points and two steals.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the night going 20-of-69 (29%) from the floor including 9-of-30 (30%) from behind the arc and 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the free throw line with 42 total rebounds (21 offensive, 21 defensive), 11 assists, 14 turnovers, four blocks and eight steals in the loss.
 
Addy Burns paced the Angelo State offense as the freshman from Lubbock went 5-of-7 from the field including 4-of-5 from deep for a team-best 16 points to go along with five boards and a block. ASU finished the game going 28-of-62 (45.2%) from the floor including 10-of-28 (35.7%) from deep and 8-of-9 (88.9%) from the line with 40 rebounds, 15 assists, 20 turnovers, five blocks and three steals.
 
The Lady Buffs close out their Lone Star Conference road trip on Saturday afternoon as they make their way to Odessa, Texas to take on the Falcons of UT Permian Basin with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. at the Falcon Dome.
