CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M forced 22 turnovers on Thursday night as they picked up a 69-57 Lone Star Conference divisional victory over the Western New Mexico Mustangs at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
 
Kyla Kane led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Wellington product went 4-of-10 from the floor including a perfect 6-of-6 from the line for a team-best 16 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists. 
Claire Graham (11) and 
Chloe Callahan (10) finished in double-figures for the Lady Buffs while 
Taylor Haggan grabbed eight boards.
 
WT finished the night going 20-of-55 (36.4%) from the floor including 7-of-25 (28%) from deep and 22-of-29 (75.9%) from the free throw line to go along with 42 rebounds (eight offensive, 34 defensive), 12 assists, 20 turnovers, two block and 11 steals in the win.
 
Alina Martin paced the Western New Mexico offense as she went 5-of-14 from the floor and 7-of-11 from the stripe for a game-high 18 points to go along with nine rebounds and three steals. The Mustangs went 19-of-58 (32.8%) from the field including 5-of-15 (33.3%) from deep and 14-of-25 (56%) from the line with 38 rebounds, eight assists, 22 turnovers, three blocks and 11 steals.
 
The Lady Buffs close out their Lone Star Conference homestand on Saturday afternoon as they take on the Lobos of Sul Ross State at the First United Bank Center with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. in Canyon.
