CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M continued to struggle offensively on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Wolves of Western Oregon, 24-16 in Lone Star Conference action at McArthur Field in Monmouth, Oregon.

The Wolves started off the scoring in the first quarter as they marched 57-yards on just two plays, a 52-yard pass completion setup a Jordan McCarty five-yard run for the 7-0 lead. WT was forced to punt on their next possession as WOU Dominique Loggins finished off a six-play drive with a four-yard touchdown rush for a 14-0 lead.

West Texas A&M got on the scoreboard right before halftime as a
David Jeffery fumble recovery on a botched fumble return setup a
Preston Gregg 22-yard field goal to make it 14-3 headed into the locker room. The Buffs cut into the lead late in the third quarter as
Jamaal Joseph found the endzone from 13 yards out followed by a failed-two point attempt at 14-3.

Western Oregon responded almost immediately as Damon Hickok connected with Kainoa Jones for a 63-yard touchdown pass to extend the WOU lead to 21-9. The Wolves would add to their lead on their next possession, as a six-play drive was finished off by a Keaton Emmett 27-yard field goal to make it 24-9.

The Buffs wouldn't go down without a fight as they marched 82-yards on 11 plays late in the fourth quarter as Season Johnson found Joseph for a three-yard touchdown pass at 24-16.

Johnson finished the afternoon completing 21-of-38 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown while carrying the ball 23 times for 47 total yards.
Tre'Jon Henderson had 10 carries for 39 yards on the ground while Joseph finished with 11 yards and a score on the ground.

Defensively, the Buffs were led by
JT Cavender who had 10 total tackles (four solo) with one of them coming for a loss,
Zach Schlager had nine tackles followed by
Ty Dillon with five followed by Jeffery and
Preston Steszewski with four tackles each.

The Buffs enter their bye week with 1-4 overall record as they return to Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium on October 12
th to host Western New Mexico on Homecoming, kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Canyon.
