Named the 2022 Lone Star Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year... Cavender saw time in just five games during an injury-plagued campaign in 2022, registering 21 total tackles (12 solo, nine assisted) with 1.5 of those coming for a loss to go along with one fumble recovery... The Midlothian product became the season in style as he tallied eight total tackles (six solo) against nationally-ranked Western Colorado in a 44-6 victory at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium...

Cavender proved himself as one of the top defensive players in the country tin 2021, seeing time in all 11 games as he registered 108 total tackles (4.5 for loss) to go along with a sack, one interception and a forced fumble... The Midlothian product was named the Lone Star Conference Linebacker of the Year as well as the LSC Defensive Freshman of the Yea to go along with All-LSC First Team accolades... Cavender registered double-digit tackles in five contests highlighted by 20 tackles (15 solo, 5 assisted) against Midwestern State in Canyon on November 6...
