EUGENE, OREGON- Corrssia Perry, a standout WT alum athlete with a remarkable journey, is set to compete tonight in the USA Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Representing the Garden State Track Club, Perry will be competing in heat four, lane five of the preliminaries at 5:48 p.m. PDT.
 
Perry's athletic career spans impressive achievements both nationally and internationally. She graduated in the spring of 2024 with a master's degree in communication from West Texas A&M University, where she competed for the Lady Buffs under Coach Stewarts. Perry's accomplishments include being a multi-All-American and LSC Champion. Notably, Perry ran the fastest Lady Buff 400-meter record earlier this season at 52.25 seconds and broke a 42-year-old record set by Merry Johnson in 1982. 
 
Internationally, Perry competed in the FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China, where she won silver in the 400 meters with a time of 52.62 seconds. Her journey to this point has been characterized by resilience and dedication, having served as an Army veteran before pursuing her athletic career. Perry began at Sterling College and later transferred to West Texas A&M for her master's degree and to continue her athletic pursuits.
 
Tonight's competition marks another milestone in Perry's career as she strives for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. Her journey reflects not only athletic prowess but also a strong spirit of perseverance and achievement.
