RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference announced the Track and Field All-Academic team this afternoon with three WT student-athletes,
Laiten Greeson,
Miriam Zanovello and
Joseph Oreva voted to the 22 person list.
LSC All-Academic selections are voted on by Lone Star Conference sports information directors.
LAITEN GREESON | SENIOR | SUBLETTE, KANSAS | HEPTATHLETE
Greeson has been selected to the LSC All-Academic team for the first time in her career after posting a 4.0 graduate GPA in Plant, Soil and Environmental Sciences in the Agricultural department. Greeson is a senior for NCAA eligibility purposes due to Covid, and with her extra year of eligibility is pursuing her master's at WT.
Greeson just qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship where she will compete as the sole heptathlete and individually in the 100m hurdles. She is an All-American in the 100m hurdles for indoor. Greeson performed the best mark in the heptathlon in WT Lady Buff history with 5,403 points this season at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi.
MIRIAM ZANOVELLO | GRADUATE STUDENT | CHIVASSO, ITALY | JUMPS
For the fifth time in her career,
Miriam Zanovello has been selected to the LSC All-Academic team. Zanovello, a two-time LSC Academic Athlete of the Year and Fred Jacoby Academic recipient, is a graduate student with a 3.97 GPA in Chemistry. She graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA in biology as an undergrad while also competing for West Texas A&M.
Zanovello competes in the long jump and triple jump. She has been selected to the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship in the triple jump this season making her a multiple outdoor qualifier. She earned All-American honors at the Indoor National Championship earlier this season.
JOSEPH OREVA | SENIOR | UGHELLI, NIGERIA | JUMPS
Joseph Oreva has been selected to the LSC All-Academic team for the first time in his career. He is a senior studying studio art and boasts a 3.62 GPA.
Oreva will compete for his first time at the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship next week in the long jump. He ranks fourth in NCAA DII with a distance of 7.82 meters.
