CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffaloes close out their regular season schedule on this road this weekend as they make their way to San Angelo, Texas for a four-game Lone Star Conference series with the #24 Angelo State Rams beginning on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Foster Field. Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch followed by Sunday's series finale at 1:00 p.m. in San Angelo.

A LOOK AT THE RAMS
Angelo State enters the final weekend of the regular season with an overall record of 32-14 with a 30-14mark in league action following an LSC series split on the road last weekend at St. Edward's, ASU picked up wins in Game 3 (3-2) and Game 4 (6-4) in a back-and-forth series at Lucian Hamilton Field. The Rams sit third in the LSC standings entering the final weekend, one game behind second-place Lubbock Christian and two games behind the Buffs.

Tripp Clark leads the way offensively for the Rams as the senior from Waco is hitting .444 on the season with 17 doubles, four triples and eight homeruns to drive in 68 RBI for a slugging percentage of .750 to go along with 12 walks and 17 strikeouts in his 160 at-bats for an on-base percentage of .513 with 20 stolen bases on 25 attempts. Probable Friday night starter Dax Dathe is 7-2 on the year with a 4.66 ERA as the right-handed Round Rock product and Texas Tech transfer has allowed 35 runs (30 earned) on 53 hits with 18 walks and 84 strikeouts during his 58.0 innings of work for an opposing batting average of .241.

ASU HEAD COACH KEVIN BROOKS
Kevin Brooks has built the ASU Baseball program into a national power during his time in San Angelo, holding an overall record of 774-347 over the past 20 years with six trips to the Division II College World Series (2007, 2015, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2023). Last year's ASU squad went 56-9 as they made their way thru the gauntlet of the South Central Regionals and Super Regionals before claiming the NCAA Division II National Championship in Cary, North Carolina with a 6-5 victory over Rollins College on June 10th.

SERIES HISTORY
The Buffs and Rams will take the diamond for the 107th time on Friday evening in San Angelo as ASU holds a 64-42 all-time lead in the series that dates back to 2005. The Buffs are 19-35 all-time at Foster Field as they have dropped their last three contests in San Angelo. Last season saw the Buffs and Rams split a four-game series at Wilder Park in Canyon.

Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national contender as the Norman, Oklahoma native is now in his 16th season at the helm of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 511-281 (.647) during his time in Canyon while registering a career record of 610-353 (.635) in his 19 seasons in collegiate baseball.

Cory Hall is now in his 14th year at West Texas A&M as the Buffs' Pitching Coach, serving the last eight as the program's Associate Head Coach. Hall has had four different pitchers drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft during his time in Canyon with multiple other professional players learning under one of the top pitching minds in collegiate baseball. THE RACE FOR AN LSC CHAMPIONSHIP
One regular season weekend remains as the race for a Lone Star Conference Championship concludes this weekend with big series taking place in San Angelo and Lubbock. Three teams enter the weekend with a statistical chance to claim the LSC Title. Lubbock Christian (32-14, 31-13) hosts Eastern New Mexico (21-25, 19-25) in a four-game series at Hays Field.

All eyes will be on the Concho Valley as the Buffs (33-13, 32-12) try to claim their fourth LSC Championship, taking a one-game lead in the league standings into Foster Field for a four-game series with Angelo State (32-14, 30-14).Â

The LSC Championship will feature a two-week tournament comprised of the top eight teams. The opening round (three-game series) will be May 3-5 at the sites of the top four seeds. The winners will advance to a double-elimination tournament played May 9-11 at the site of the top remaining seed.

The LSC Digital Network is in its fifth season showcasing the academic and athletic events of the league and its 18 member institutions. Volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball broadcasts will be available via conference-wide pay-per-view passes.
