CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M picked up a pair of thrilling Lone Star Conference victories on Saturday at Nolan Ryan Field as they took a 2-1 series lead over Texas A&M-Kingsville, needing extra innings in the nightcap to hand the Javelinas a pair of losses.

The Buffs and Javelinas close out their series on afternoon with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. at Nolan Ryan Field.

GAME ONE
The Buffs took an early lead in the top of the second inning as a leadoff single by
Dylan Fesperman was followed by
Seth Ochoa being hit by a pitch and a walk to
Elijah Batista to load the bases with no outs,
Josh Zapata would ground into a double play to plate Fesperman for the 1-0 advantage.

WT added to their lead in the third as Fesperman singled thru the left side with two outs to score
Ryan Camacho to make it 2-0. The Buffs extended their lead in the fourth as
Rodric Black singled thru the left side with two outs with
Josh Zapata beating out a throw to the plate to make it 3-0.

The Javelinas made some noise in the home half of the fifth as Ramsey Amador tripled to center to score Michael Cervantes with one out followed by a MJ Rodriguez sacrifice fly to center to cut the lead to 3-2.Â

Matt Milner picked up the win (2-0) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing two earned runs on five hits with one walk and a strikeout in his 4.2 innings of work.
Reese Miller tossed the final two frames, allowing no hits with one hit by pitch and three strikeouts for his second save of the year.

GAME TWO
The Javelinas got on the board first in the nightcap in the bottom of the second as Amador singled to left with two outs to drive in Jacob Rosales for the 1-0 lead. The Buffs tied up the game in the top of the fifth inning as they took advantage of a TAMUK error with Zapata lifting a sac fly to center with one out that scored Fesperman at 1-1.

Kingsville responded in the home half of the fifth as they took advantage of a Buffalo fielding error with two outs that plated Vincent Sanchez for the 2-1 lead.Â

The Buffs threatened in the top of the sixth as
Kyle Micklus reached on an error and advanced all the way to third with one out followed later in the frame by a Fesperman RBI double to score Micklus and a
Landon Gaber RBI single to left in his first collegiate start that plated
Paul Wittmann for the 3-2 lead.

Kingsville wouldn't go down without a fight as Dalton Kramer singled to first base with one out in the seventh then stole second and advanced to third on an errant throw to move the tying run 90 feet from home plate, a strikeout would put the Hogs down to their last out before a wild pitch to score Kramer made it 3-3 and forced extra innings.

The Javelinas started off the bottom of the ninth with a triple to left by Logan Crow before
Elijah Batista kept the game alive with a great play on a fielder's choice ground ball to cut the winning run down at the plate, TAMUK would load the bases with a two-out walk before
Justice Hayes entered from the bullpen and registered a strikeout to keep the score at 3-3.

The Buffs took advantage of another Kingsville miscue in the top of the 10
th inning as Micklus made it all the way to third on a dropped fly ball with two outs followed by a
Ryan Camacho RBI triple for the 4-3 lead.

Kingsville's leadoff reached on a WT fielding error in the home half before
Tai Phetluangsy forced a popup back to the mound followed by an infield single to put Hogs on the corners with one out, a stolen base moved a pair into scoring position followed by an intentional walk to load the bases before Phetluangsy registered a pair of strikeouts to end the game, 4-3.

Hayes picked up the win (1-0) on the mound, allowing no runs on no hits with a strikeout in his 0.1 innings of relief, Phetluangsy earned the save as the Amarillo product allowed one hit with a pair of strikeouts in the final frame.
